Porsche 924 Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement

Porsche 924 and 944 rear wheel bearing replacement! The rear wheel bearing was trashed on my 1987 924S so in this video I show replacing mine. The process will be the same for most 944s as the control arms on the S model are the same.
Now that the bearing is done it is time to address the steering with a full manual conversion! Stay tuned.

Love the story about blasting backroads with your dad. Hope my kids remember all the hours we've racked up in the 944 the same way.

I used to love driving my dad’s 124 that he bought new. The car was just so well balanced and fun to drive. Once that steering is corrected it will change the car big time. It sounds a little louder than I remember on the interior. You’re doing great! 👍🏻

That method of torque has served me well with propellors. Anti-sieze was a good idea. For dry splines aircraft and BMW motorcycles specify a molybdenum grease, sometimes mixed with a little motor oil. You did a great repair! I love how the bearing slid right in.

The sad thing is, with some of todays mechanics, a repair shop may have actually done that wheel bearing before you got to it. Great video, I never realized that the combination of a freezing cold bearing & a hot hub makes that much difference on fitment! Thanks for the video!

Nice job on the wheel bearing, if you ever do it again, a little more detail on pulling a CV axle and putting it back in would be appreciated. I have never done one and once paid 900$ to have the CV axle seals replaced on a Honda Accord. That was many years ago. I watch all your motorcycle videos and now your auto videos. Your videos are very good and enjoyed, keep them coming. Thank you for all the hard work.

I did a similar torque setting using a breaker bar and a digital pull scale. My normal torque wrenches would not access the bolts. Seemed to work fine.

Well done! I noticed on the video when you started your test drive gaps between the doors and the roof ie. daylight visible?🤨

Great content, really enjoyed it. For in car vid, where the camera is behind or beside you, you need a mic. Difficult to hear you clearly with wind and engine noise, but great all the same !

Is there a PN or link for that bearing assembly you have? 944 online has the individual bearings and seal to put into the race housing but not that full on pre-assembled unit you had. At least that I can find for 84 944 under the rear axle category. Thanks in advance!
