Porsche 924S Clutch And Short Shifter Install

Porsche 924s Clutch And Short Shifter Install! This was a job that I knew I would have to do since I bought the car as it had a major "clunk" when going on-and-off throttle. The stock clutch rubber dampener had broken like they all do from age and use. The new clutch is a more traditional design having a spring center that will last much longer! Now the car is a total blast to drive and being enjoyed more often! Next up is to fix the rear wheel bearing.

Just picked up a 1987 924S. Got the factory seats back in. Probably needs engine mounts , as well as general maintenance. The belt and pump were changed, but I have no idea when. .. . The previous owner removed the stock shift handle, so it wobbles.. need that, wipers have to time them on downstroke to shut off, or they stop exactly where they are at 😅. Oh well, I hope im fast learner

What a pain! I was going to stop and check out a used 944 last spring in my hometown. I kept debating it with myself for a month. It was $3500. Somebody else bought it, I seen it driven for a few weeks and haven't seen it again!

Really takes me back, same interior as my old 944 (although you have the steering wheel on the wrong side 😂), my cousin has it now and he’s about to do a deep restoration on it, I may ask to buy it back from him when it’s done 🤔

@@tangentsbhb That’s right, 1982, 8v, 2.5, guards red, no power steering, no sunroof, Fuchs alloys, the one that’s getting collectible now as it was the 944 in its purest form, you know I’m pretty sure I’ll buy it back once he’s completed it, I’ll need to be patient though, he’s just completed his Morris minor 1000, it took 4 years, but wow it’s better than the day it rolled off the line 👍

@tangentsbhb just be glad you started with a 924S. My son was so amused by watching me struggle with my 944 that he bought a 924 project. At first glance its the same car with a different engine. Digging deeper, they are way different, harder to work on, less parts availability, and less info floating around online. If I had started with a 924 I wouldn't be nearly as into the platform as I am now.

Do they make a lightweight flywheel option for it? With your quest to drop weight it's usually good for a solid 10-12lbs depending on what you find, frees up some revs too.
