As a lifelong tinkerer I can't leave anything alone. I love all things mechanical and this channel will be the place to showcase a wider variety of projects in my life. As my main channel (Brick House Builds) is focused around motorcycles I use this space to showcase car content, crazy bicycles, industrial art, and anything else! The rules are there aint' no rules! Lets simply build cool shit and hopefully inspire others to do the same!

The gentle approach and a ticking clock gives this video a hint of Allen Millyard, which can't be bad. Thanks for making it.
great job! another way to tell with components is the longer leg is typically positive.
I didn't know that!
@@tangentsbhb here to help!
Listening to this while I install ITB's on my 944.
Niiice!
Nice job BJ 👍👌❤️
Thank ya
Nice fix BJ! A broken clock seems to be required for a classic car though!😂 As already pointed out, cheap de-soldering braid is a must and be sure to use rosin flux, not acid flux (that is for copper plumbing).
A tool I use for desoldering was a gift from a friend who used to do circuit board work. Go look for a “solder sucker”. Once the solder melts you put the tip next to it and press a trigger that releases a pre-sprung plunger inside and POOF solder is cleared from the surface and the component will come out easily. That’s for the episode BJ, we know how busy you are 😁👍🏻
Oh I want one! Will definitely try to get one on order
great job on a somewhat taxing chore..lessons learned a long the way..but satisfaction is the goal achieved..plus i really dig the MOMO..adds a flair to the interior..
Thank ya! That polarity got me lol
once again attention to detail..i suffer from wanting everything to work on my vehicles..you have an OCD character in your work..it is a passion i say...
Yeah the non working clock really bothered me and I love the function of it. Definitely ocd
Get yourself some desoldering braids / wicks, but well done
Yeah I definitely need some. On the list for sure
Hi buddy
👋
I hope that ramp is anchored, welded or pinned and not just sitting in place. I know what you mean about the cost of storage, Most people do not realize the cost incurred by a car just sitting inside and not being used, Things still malfunction even though it just sits, insurance still needs to be paid, and things get bumped into and scratched in a crowded shop. That is not a cheap car and will be loved by whoever owns it.
It's just sitting but I can't imagine it would go anywhere. Yeah just having it sit is still expensive.
Thank you so much for sharing! It is pitty that you did not explain how to unplug the "upper left" plug. That cost me two hours yesterday, to find out.😀 I did have to remove the insturments first and I am wondering how you did it without this. That would heva been impossible for me. 😲 Anyway, is it possible to replace these LEDs with yomething brighter or with a different color? Thank you! 🙂
I guess I am not sure what plug you are referring to. The speedometer cable was the most difficult for me. The method I showed is pretty much the standard for removal so Im sorry if it wasn't helpful. You should be able to get any color you want but there won't be a kit for it. You would have to source them individually.
@@tangentsbhb Don't be sorry, your video helped me a lot! 😀I was referring to the plug that you are mentioning at 03:13 The one for the high beam switch. The cable was so short and the plug so tight... Anyway, I finally managed to pull this one as well; and in the meantime I have replaced the lighting with LEDs. I did not use LEDs for the turn signal as I guess LEDs are not built for this constantly on and off. And of course I did replace that single bulb by a new bulb and not an LED. 🙂 I ordered a lot of different LEDs until I found the perfect combination of the two different kinds of plugs. I found out that all coloured LEDs are too dark, as it seems that they only put some little paint on the original white LEDs 😞. So now everything is shining in cold bright white. Not the color I was originally going for, but I can now match it to my radio's lighting. Still have to replace everything in the center console though... Would love to show a picture but that is not possible here. 🙂 Again, thank you very very much for sharing!
Just took delivery of a 2024 XLT Hybrid. Getting rid of a 1992 D150 i have owned for 23 years.
Just for looks good?
Yes
I just got my 2024 XLT equipped exactly the same except for the color (carbonized grey metallic). Already got a tri fold tonneau cover installed, ordered custom seat covers, installed a dash pad, interior accessories, etc. Still have to install the mud flaps and the LED turn signal bulbs in the front. Thinking about getting different wheels and tires too. Just over 200 miles on mine!
Nice!
I’d never seen the baking soda + super glue trick. Love it. I must have been living under a rock. Cheers
It's suuuuper handy
I saw you using your JIS screwdriver on the dash. It’s just because you’re tool kit is Honda focused isn’t it😂
Well they fit a lot better than a normal ph2
Need to know if I can add a bigger gas tank to my 24 maverick XL or add one in the bed
I believe the tanks for the ecoboost are larger (16.5 gal?) than the hybrid tank, but may not mount to a hybrid.
I’m getting ready to do this to mine, did you have any issues with getting it aligned afterwards?
With camber bolts you should be fine at any alignment shop. If you are awd the rear won't be in spec. A different control arm would take care of that but otherwise just rotate tires more often
Hi awesome video, i kinda have lil similar problems on my "brand new" 924/944... the temp gauce works kinda bad (it raise very very quickly to the danger zone...but everything works soo it's probably the gauge or dirt problem?). the temp gauge and fuel gauce "dances" if i put the headlights on and off...soo maybe some grounding problems idk?? And the last one problem, the AC switch like yours doesn't work :( I checked behind ofc it has replaced in the past but maybe again some wiring problems maybe not into the switch, but into the AC motor? If someone have some suggestions just tell me 😭 btw wheel and leds are just awesome!!
I would start by measuring temp switch function if possible. I don't know a ton about these cars to give good diag unfortunately
What did you put on the contacs after you cleaned them? Good videos, Keep it up!
Thank ya! I used dielectric grease/silicone grease
That Momo wheel is awesome!! I've used a screwdriver bit heated by a torch to quickly melt a slot on a plastic post to spread it a little similar to your application.
That's a good idea!
Just picked up a 1987 924S. Got the factory seats back in. Probably needs engine mounts , as well as general maintenance. The belt and pump were changed, but I have no idea when. .. . The previous owner removed the stock shift handle, so it wobbles.. need that, wipers have to time them on downstroke to shut off, or they stop exactly where they are at 😅. Oh well, I hope im fast learner
I want to do this but I'm worried on how it affects the ride. Do you bottom out with passengers? Does the suspension still have enough play for a smooth ride? Thanks
No worries on bottoming out under normal driving. The ride is better than factory in my opinion due to the progressive rate spring. It's less harsh over bumps but still firm like it should be
@@tangentsbhbsweet thanks. I saw in another video someone mentioned tires rubber on the inner. Nothing like that right? Thanks again
You're an inspiration, man.
I like those phone dialer wheels. Did the 924S have them as an option? I thought I saw them on a 944/928.
They are factory on the 924s. The 944 has 16" where these are 15"
@@tangentsbhb Neat
I used to love driving my dad’s 124 that he bought new. The car was just so well balanced and fun to drive. Once that steering is corrected it will change the car big time. It sounds a little louder than I remember on the interior. You’re doing great! 👍🏻
Those little devils will drive you nuts with electrical gremlins. Nicely done with the diagnostics BJ 👍🏻
It almost broke me lol. Just like the orange CB750
I used a small pilot bearing slide hammer and they came out in seconds 😁
Definitely the right tool but I wanted to try this way for fun!
😂😂😂 Crazy Train😂😂
The binge has started!
Do you know What the core issue was? Did the wire get damaged or anything else? I could potentially have the same issue on mine
I feel that the wiring was so brittle that I broke it by removing the bellhousing bolt. Thats the only thing that makes sense to me.
Cool channel! I actually painted a 924 in a basement garage in Oslo some 20 years ago. Colour was silver truck paint with no clearcoat. Cant believe we did that. My buddy later sold this running project car, I remember he said most of the undercarriage was VW golf.
🤘
Why was the seal leaking ,, why 😢😢🙄
It was a heart breaker!
The white color actually looks good on this car 👍. Im thinking about getting an 924S. Looks more aero than the 944..
It actually has a higher top speed than the 944 due to that ever so slight aero improvement!
Wow, amazing video! Thanks for all the tips. That trick with torque spec was really nice
Glad you enjoyed
That new wheel looks sooo good, nicely done
Thanks!
wheels and tires now....still to high....
I have wheels for it already but haven't put them on. For a daily it sits how I like. They definitely looks great another inch lower but thats much more work
Awesome video and the steering wheel looks great! Could you please explain why you put the dielectric grease on the connectors? Judging by its name, it seems like it would insulate the connectors and prevent them from making proper contact, or am I missing something? :D
Thats just what you use on electrical connections. Silicone grease helps keep junk out but reduce friction
I put LED lights in my click and oil pressure gage, big difference! My clock didn't work, ended up taking it apart and replacing the two capacitors. Over a year later and still working great.
I just did the capacitors as well with success. That will be another video
@@tangentsbhb yes pleeeeaaase! As my clock is not working as well. 🙂
50/50/90 rule bruh
Nice results even if you took a few tangents along the way. In my own vehicle "upgrades" I usually regret the tradeoffs that can occur. Some have none, some just need to be undone! I have little patience for 1980s plastic electromechanical devices, you did great.
Oh very true! The wheel has taken getting used to. It was so slick at first and harder to be comfortable with but now is getting better
Yup!! Amazing the difference in the stance & look now, Real Nice. How does the height difference change the ride, if at all?? 😉🏴🤘🙏
The ride is actually better as the springs are progressive so not as harsh over bumps!
first off that wheel looks SICK! secondly, I know it sounds cheesy but watching guys like you on here dig into something theyve never done before on their cars and fixing it really helps build my confidence when I break into a new project on my car. thanks!
Well I'm glad the videos have that effect! Anything you see me doing on this car is the first time. Just approach everything as nuts and bolts. Take time to understand how it works and determine how to make it work again or work better. You can do it!
@@tangentsbhb thanks bud! luckily I also have a good friend thats a lot more versed in mechanic stuff than I am to help, Ive torn into my car a few times and managed to fix or replace bad parts and it feels great, next adenture is engine swap and an EFI conversion so this should get exciting haha
You need to clone yourself at least one time, maybe twice so the other you can work on the CBX and the SEI. Not that I am complaining or anything like that, any content is much appreciated and fun to watch...keep up the good work :)
I wish! I'd get so much done lol
That wheel is gorgeous dude. Nice clean up job on the stalks. Satisfying clicks....😉🏴🤘🙏
Definitely needed work on the switches to pass inspection lol
That wheel is sooooooooo! nice!!!
A must have!
It's always fun to do the same job twice. It is sooo much easier after the practice run.
😅😅 100%
Nice job Bj always works better the 2nd time lol looks well better now 👍👌🏁🏁❤️
I was just test fitting apparently 😅
@@tangentsbhb hahaha I’d had said the same 😂😂
When you were putting the dash back into the car i was like shouting at you "hey man, test it before mounting it back" :-) On side note - there is also a version of LED bulb which is not polarity specific - yes, all LEDs are as all diodes are polarity specific but these special "bulbs" has two LEDs inside in antiparalel configuration so no matter how you connect them one of them always shine. But this type is not so common and - as always - more expensive. Nice job - especially on repairing the fragile switches. On completly different note - in one or two previous videos i saw red VFR 800 RC46 - will you make a video about it? Just asking...having same red VFR 800 too plus one red VFR 1200F..being kinda VFR fan :-)
I was for sure a dummy to not test it so I quickly learned that lesson lol. The VFR is my friends bike actually. In case you aren't aware my main channel that I've had for years is all motorcycles. Same style and format of videos. It's kzread.info
@@tangentsbhbSurely I know your main channel, subscribed it almost immediately when i found it :-) I work on bikes myself though on lower level - just maintenance and repairs, no rebuilds or restorations - but found in your vides many tips&tricks and inspiration. And fun of course 🙂
My 944 was manual steering, very heavy to park but great at speeds above 5mph.
Definitely not fun to parallel park in a hurry but great otherwise lol
