Porsche 944 Rear Wheel Bearing DIY NO SPECIAL TOOLS! NO PRESS! Early 1984/1985 w Steel Trailing arms

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Walk through on how I did my rear wheel bearings on my 1984 Porsche 944 with steel trailing arms. This is what worked for me. I'm not an expert or professional or even a you-tuber but couldn't find a decent DIY so figured I'd make one after doing the passengers side successfully. It's filmed partially in portrait and partially in landscape with the worst monotone instructional voice possibly known to mankind. However, I don't tell you about the weather where I live - or any other BS - JUST HOW TO DO THE BEARING. - Hopefully this video is informational and helps you. I assume no responsibility for anything you do to your car as a result of this video - its purely a reiteration of my experience.
If you like this video, please like and subscribe and I'll consider buying a tripod and making better content (in landscape... lol I promise). If you think I missed something or think something should be included or if you think I'm an idiot - let me know in the comments.

Very nice video. I gotta high five you on the use of the electric ratchet to remove the bolts! No need to spend all that energy on a ratchet to hold yourself in position and bang your knuckles repeatedly! I have one car with steel trailing arm and one with the aluminum. This was super helpful.

Just because the car is old doesn't mean your tools have to be lol.

I wish this video was around when I did my early steel trailing arm '83. Nice, you did everything proper! One thing is determining if a stub axle should be replaced from wear and if the outer bearing seat is too worn.

Talk about great timing : I'm preparing this job on a 1986 944 NA / ordering my parts. This is EXACTLY the video I was looking for! Thanks for the great step by step guide and please don't take it down or I'll be scr*wed in two weeks from now lol

As long as you have steel trailing arms and 2 bearings this should help you! Thanks for commenting, makes it feel like less of waste of time. :)

@@barbershop123 double checker everything when i saw rockauto was offering inner and outer bearings AND big single units : I got the aluminum trailing arm! But all is not lost, will still be going through some of the same steps and your video still helped me grasp a little better what I m getting myself into. I did however get a slide hammer bearing puller as i dont think there will be a way to cheat around it on the aluminum trailing arm. Cheers and keep it up

Nice, will be replacing my entire trailing arm due to a bent axle and rear shock mount the previous owner did not mention. I bought a set of trailing arms and a torsion bar from a parted out 1983 944 for $140 and was wondering if it is any different than the 1984. Also, is it a pain in the ass to set up the parking brake cable when swapping trailing arms? Planning on rebuilding them off of the car and replacing them somewhat quickly

I like it. I am going to try it sometime on my 1988.
