Hi George! First, thanks for the extremely generous praise for my work. It was another dream job for me to get to do art for these films that I love so much! There are a couple of things I wanted to clarify... - First, regarding the lack of individual reversible covers with my artwork, the "budget problem" reasoning is simply an unfounded rumor. Eureka was great to work for and didn't skimp on the artwork budget. All I can say is that due to unforeseen circumstances completely out of our control we weren't able to do it. They and I are just as disappointed as all of you. - They were not permitted to use the Extended Japanese cut of POLICE STORY, and in fact, they apparently got in some hot water for including it on their POLICE STORY 1 & 2 Blu-ray release. They absolutely would've had it on this new set if they could've. - I'm sorry to hear that your All-Region 4K player won't play RIGHTING WRONGS. With all of my All-Region players, I have to enter a code or press a couple of buttons to change the region code. There may be a slip of paper that came with your player telling you how to do this. If you find it, I recommend photographing it, labeling it as "Instructions for changing the region on 4K player" and saving it somewhere safe (I forgot how to switch regions on one of my players that I don't use often and now can't locate the instructions >:p). The 4K discs are all region-free, so that would explain why they'd work, but not the Region A encoded RIGHTING WRONGS Blu-rays. If you bought the player in your country it's most likely set to Region 2/B by default. I hope that's the case. Anyway, I'm very excited to get my copy of this, hopefully soon.

Hey brother!! Thanks for clearing that up - always to good to find out the reasons why with these things. Here's hoping we get to see your art on each release soon enough :) I must look for that code, although I've tried a number of things and no luck yet lol It will be set for Region B I guess, but the reviews said otherwise (which is why I bought it). @@invincibleasiaofficial I have a regular region free blu-ray player. In order for me to play Region B discs - when it's powered off & no disc is in the player - I press the number 2 for Region B & it turns my player on & it's ready to play my region B discs. You might want to try that, but instead of pressing 2, press 1 to turn the player on. That should switch it to region A for you.

The Kung Fu Bob artwork was something I was really looking forward to but im still happy with it and the thing I love best with this release is the hd versions of the export cuts as they are the ones I grew up with from the VHS days,Anyways great review.👍🏻

I absolutely love the Police story movies, they’re one of my favourite action movies ever. So it’s very nice to see 1,2 and 3 in this awesome box set together. But as you said First Strike, New Police Story and Lockdown could also get some 4K/ Blu-ray releases as well.

Wow brother. I grew up in Craigavon, so I did. I watched Police Story Palace release back in the day. My friends and I thought it was oddly dubbed but it was still awesome. We weren't that thick 😅

There was ment to be KF Bob art to, but they did write the following on socials: (Due to unforeseen circumstances we have not been able to include reversible sleeves featuring individual sleeve designs by R.P. “Kung Fu Bob” O’Brien, as listed on the packaging. We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause) Could your problem with Wrighting Wrongs be that you player actually have to be switched between regions via buttons? I have to do that on mine.

@@invincibleasiaofficial Only asking cause i could see you "thinking" some discs are Region A locked and they still play fine so you would think the player is region free... and i'm thinking that because companies like WellGoUSA does write Region A on all their covers, but they are infact all Region Free.

They did put out a message about not being able to have the Kung Fu Bob artwork on the individual releases, I think it was something to do with having used up all their budget. Seems like a perfect set if you don’t own any of the films, glad that SuperCop has a stand alone blu-ray release. I’m a bit peeved at the Angela Mao set is housed in one case! For the price they could have stretched to two cases, also means one set of artwork won’t be on display 😠

From what I've read the 4k release is region-free, which would harm Japanese sales of the extended cut. They were lucky to have it on the blu ray apparently.

I only know Criterion released it in the US and 88 Films will be releasing Supercop there in December. However, you could keep an eye on Ebay where you might get lucky :)

Eureka looks like Amateurs presenting this release. Whats the point of a still picture on the reversed case insert when you have black cases? Im definately going to switch to transparent cases for this. That alone will make this set come more alive. Im sure I will be satisfied with the disc contents though, not sure if theres that much more to offer. But a port of the old HKL extras definately would be preferred!

You really hold no punches with Eureka, & I completely completely agree with you on the inconsistencies of Eureka HK titles & the lack of reversible covers, re-hashing the same old thing is extremely frustrating. I am definitely holding back on the box set till it becomes cheaper or the standard edition comes out. You may have to Frankenstein your 4K Police Story by getting a black double disc case & adding the blu ray disc in there. Looks like I’ll be getting just the PS3 on blu ray for now. Keep up the good ranty work. I think you should flip it & wait for the cheaper version, because you never know they might use Kung Fu Bob’s artwork on the standard release box set, because you know, why not fuck off the collectors even more!

The 4K picture is great but I have 2 cons regarding this release. They could added a chapter menu and they should of used the English 5.1 dub tracks from both 2019 blu ray police 1 & 2 release and not the dub mono tracks. Missed Opportunity there

I agree. A slack release in my opinion...

I’m glad to have this set but the Dolby Atmos track on SUPERCOP isn’t very good. The LFE channel all but disappears starting with the camp attack. There is some bass but for the most part it is very lacklustre. In fact, the US version’s audio track has better sound it’s just too bad that it doesn’t have the original language track as an option. If this gets a stand-alone US version I hope that the audio track is improved.

It would be nice if they would hire you to advise them on extras, artwork, menu design, etc. Final QC work. Not sure why they seem to just give bare minimum, Maybe it's a cost thing. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Glad to have the films in 4K and a set of three, but still feel Eureka half-arsed it with this release and it’s becoming something of a familiar theme with them. You didn’t misremember, the reversible art for each release was indeed solicited and it states as such on the (misprinted) j-card. I don’t know, I love the movies Eureka have been putting out but always feel there’s something lacking in the overall package.

I picked this up solely for the HD Blu-ray reconstruction of the HK theatrical cut of POLICE STORY II, as I hear many think it’s superior to the extended Japanese cut which is the only one I’ve seen and I’m curious to check it out. Conversely, the crucial extended Japanese cut of POLICE STORY is missing; I consider the HK cut to be vastly inferior, as the entire proper beginning and ending of the film have been chainsawed out. I do have the HKR reconstruction of this (I know, I know), the best version available IMO, which I don’t feel bad about because I’ve bought more legit releases of POLICE STORY than I can count, including this latest. I know Fortune Star wouldn’t let Eureka include it, which is absolute bullshit and makes no sense because they’ve allowed plenty of extended cuts and alternate edits of other films they’ve licensed; I was really looking forward to having a legit restored reconstruction of the only version of PS I will ever watch, but alas, it was not to be. Major demerits to Fortune Star for being a bunch of assbitches and not letting Eureka include it.

I do think the HK Cut is the right one for sure - The Japanese Cut has too much a light hearted beginning for such a dark film. Someday we will see the ultimate versions :)

@@invincibleasiaofficial can’t remotely agree on that - the complete opening sets up the story properly and introduces the characters properly, including traits and motivations and running gags that make what follows richer and more coherent. And, ironically considering your opinion of the extended opening being too light-hearted for such a dark film, cutting off the proper ending robs the film of some darker emotional heft, as Ka Kui is led out in handcuffs and he and Selina share an anguished look at each other. I never need to watch the butchered HK cut again. Yeah, I guess I’m a bit opinionated on this one but it’s my absolute #1 fave Hong Kong film and it NEVER should have been sliced up for HK theaters IMO.

I feel like 60 pounds is a lot for this box set. I was a little shocked that they didn't include any reversible arts for each release. No slip cards, no posters. We have almost the same bonus features we've had in their previous Police Story 1+2 box set. I don't think this release is worth 60 pounds at all, to be honest. Yes, I believe watching them in 4K is spectacular and all, I get that, but there's definitely a lot of content missing for this release to be worth 60 pounds alone, though. Just my opinion.

If you've got a good enough tv and bluray player then it will upscale to 4k so the bluray is perfectly fine. You'll find it very hard to notice much difference in the 4k versions.

No.. They only have the US rights for Supercop. Criterion has the US rights for 1 and 2 and well.... Eureka has the UK rights clearly.

Eureka messed up a lot already and continues to do so. They are so inconsistent with the reversible cover arts but what I hate the most is how they release two or even three movies in one case. Like that Iron-Fisted Monk/Magnificent Butcher/Eastern Condors, they compromise the artwork and basically ruin my collection. It doesn´t allow me to build my collection the way I´d like to. Why they put some of the movies together and some they release separately is beyond me. Warriors Two and Prodigal son deserve separate releases with adequate attention to each of the films and not just to be thrown into this double-bill release. 88Films give the movies proper attention, they give it real care and their releases are great. I would love them to release all the HK titles alone. Eureka kind of stands in the way. Of course, I buy Eureka releases but it is a bit frustrating. But Arrow Video has also changed the game a lot with those SB boxes. I love Arrow Video, they do an amazing job and the boxes look great. But whyyyyy. So many movies in one expensive box. The films are just randomly put together and I don´t really want all of them. I would like to have just 3 or 4 from each box and that´s now impossible because 88films are not gonna released the films that Arrow Video has.
