Polar Lights 1/32 Galileo 7; Painting the figures
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
My build of the 1/32 scale Galileo shuttlecraft kicks off with painting the figures included in the recently released interior parts kit. The video starts with look at the new interior parts pack and moves on to suggestions for paint colors that differ from those provided for in the instructions. The color recommendations are from Gary Kerr, shared by builder Mark Myers and are based on color chips from Sherman Williams that can be used as guides to achieve at accurate paint colors for both interior and exterior. This is followed by a quick look at paint brushes from Zembrush.com. The remainder of this segment is devoted to painting the new figures and I provide a tutorial of my process.

Fantastic video series!! You've inspired me to try to paint the figures with more detail than I had originally planned to do. Awesome build too, BTW!! I learn so much from watching your videos as well as those of Mark Myers and Boyd at Trekworks. You guys are AWESOME!!

@InterstellarModeler Definitely! I just a built a 1/32 scale Jupiter II and added 3D printed figures to that, but I didn't try to paint the face details at that scale. These are bigger and after seeing yours, I think I'll give it a try.
Building, easy. Getting the right colour for any model, KAHHNNNN!!!!

Thank you Mark
Nice looking figures Oggie. I got 2 of the interior kits specially for the heads. I'm working on making the bridge from Wrath of Khan but needed to replace the heads on the figures i have. I think that McCoy is the best sculpt of them all, closely followed by Scotty, Checkov, Sulu and Spock. You mentioned Mark Myers, he used the extra heads from the latest bridge kit on his figures as they fit perfectly

Thanks for the nice words.
The figures look great. It would be interesting if someone made figures of Nancy Hedford and Zefram Cochrane for a diorama from "Metamorphosis".

Amazing work as usual Oggie! Love your technique for the uniforms. I’ve tried the wash system a few times but it’s never turned out satisfactory for me. I must say I’m an avid dry brusher so that seems to work for me. I always start with a black base and work backwards to lighter colours even on flesh tones. Looking forward to the next instalment my friend. 👊🏻

Thank you very much Derek. Dry brushing is a good technique as well. My experience painting those busts has really helped with improving my wet blending skills. I thought I’d try it at this scale and it worked out. Appreciate your kind words as always. Good to hear from you

Great job on the paint. The blending and high lights, low lights. The figures are excellent. I’m definitely looking into semi brush. I’ve seen videos of miniature figures where they use a microscope to paint. I actually thought the rig they use were able to paint super paint detailing. Very fine job interstellar dude.

Interesting techniques here, personally I'd have gone with a wash and dry brushing for shadows and highlights.
