Pioneer LaserActive Special Edition - Zoom: A Laser Video Magazine (Vol 7., October 1993)
Visit our website: laseractive.wordpress.com
We at the LaserActive Preservation Project (LAP Project) are pleased to bring you the entirety of the never-before-uploaded Zoom Volume 7. This rare 8" Laserdisc features (other than corporate hype and particularly terrible 90's jazz) footage from unreleased, beta, and proof-of-concept LaserActive games.

I can't wait for this to come out!
Ya gotta love the laundry list of 90's cliches: crooked camera angles, tom tom-heavy synth music, MT Grotesque fonts, and promises that "interactive, full-motion video" games were THE FUTURE.
sickeningly 90s. love it.
I'm so mesmerized by this dude explaining things that I could train my dog to do
I happen to have one of the best Japanese LaserDisc players ever made, and if I can get my hands on this LD and any others that talk about LaserActive, I would LOVE to upload the videos in the best quality possible for youtube. This is really neat to share with others, and trying to preserve this in the best quality possible for others to archive is really high on my "things to do" list. :) Fantastic video bro, thanks for sharing! I never knew that these ZOOM discs had this content until now. I will admit, the quality of this video is not shabby at all. Could be sharper, but well worth watching! :)
Glad I found this channel. My laseractive isn't reading discs. I can play carts in the Sega pac but no CD or ld . So far, I have been watching a few tube vids and seen there is quite a bit more that could be wrong than simply a bad laser. I haven't opened it but from other bids and posts I can guarantee mine would have bad caps.
Yeah Vol 7 is rather common. It's Vol 8 that's truly hard to find.
@superdeadite Ooh! I'll have to keep my eye out for that one. Thanks for the tip.
The Zoom Volume 7 was a special case, in that it shipped with LaserActives itself. All OTHER Zoom discs, however, were only shipped to high-end AV retailers (independent or chain, I can't tell you) with a subscription. It's likely that they were used as demo discs in stores. This is why Zoom 8 footage was so hard to obtain.
“Oddity Archive” brought me here
This presenter looks like Bill Murray. 10/10 *100/100* Best Game. *Best Game*
1. CAV, of the rare 8" variety that could only store 15 on each side. 2. I've tried to come in contact with several of them, but they've all declined comment. 3. The unadulterated Star Wars original trilogy, of course!
@LAPProject I've never seen it, but it's rumored that Vol 8 has a few ads for the later LA games, including a few unreleased.
Speaking of Triad Stone, we recently obtained a copy. Expect a whole playthrough on KZread in the future!

Uh..uhh I knew LaserActive Was Worst Console i been Play PS4 40years I never Hear CD Modern Activity is and been FASTER or ORDINARY CONSOLE
And that's the sad truth of the matter. For less than half the price of a complete LaserActive, you could buy a Sega Genesis, Sega CD, TurboDuo, and LaserDisc player with built-in karaoke.
I have this and a few other "Zoom" discs. Been meaning to get them uploaded but guess I don't need to do this one.

The only two which feature LaserActive news are this one and Volume 8, yes?
pioneer has a fix on this technology, so keep an eye on your laser active store... wow, even he didn't believe a word of that.
Actually, if your LA unit isn't playing DISCS, it's probaby the laser. The caps in the LaserActive itself tend to be okay. The PAC caps leak because they're Surface Mounted Device (SMD) caps, which was a relatively new technology during the early 90's, used for their much smaller size. To keep them affordable, most devices that utilized SME caps generally used the cheapest ones available. As you can see, they didn't last.
Some questions: Was the disc CAV or CLV? What happen to the people that worked no this disc? What's your favorite movie that is available on LD?
How was this disc shipped with, a specific player, subscription, black helicopters?
Was there just less waiter actors in LA back then? or were standards just drastically lower? jeezus, the on air talent is tereebs.
@superdeadite From what I've heard, this is the only LaserActive-related volume of Zoom. Is Volume 8 just about other LD stuff?
"okay watch this, looks easy...but is...not" (nothing happening at all) "ahh!"
+LAPProject Why does it look like a smaller tray is going to pop-out from the LD tray?
@LAPProject

Because it is! The CLD-A100 has a telescoping tray - the big tray is LD sized, and the smaller inner tray is CD sized.
Anyone know what that racing game at 2:38 is?

Not a racing game. It's "I Will: A Story of London."
Yeah, I noticed that...weird thing that the LaserActive can't even PLAY Game Gear games...
so condescending: "a weapon against frustration - RTFM"
the music for the actual show is good god insanely bad.
Did you guys go bankrupt and if not are you guys working on anything new.
ugh.... angled camera shots and padded shoulder suit jackets
Pioneer knew they had a crappy product and and where probably thinking most of the masses where naive to buy into such a device because they did not understand the technology. They sold it anyway and failed due to it being overpriced and unadvanced as they claimed to be. The video discs where expensive too! Just listen to how uninterested and fake their replies sound when trying to deliver the quality of the product. Sad to say it is much worse today. The masses are more naive about technology and what it can really do to or for you.
