Phase II actually got decently far into preproduction before canceling. Most of the season's episodes had already been scripted, the sets were under construction, and even some test screenings had been filmed. But then Star Wars came out and Paramount wanted a big Sci-Fi film to rival it, so the pilot episode was given a cinema level budget and became the first movie. And if you're still bummed out Phase II never happened, it lives on in a sense that many of those episode scripts I mentioned earlier got some tweaks and became TNG episodes.

I love playing this game strategically. And by that, I mean targeting and disabling the enemy vessel's subsystems. Being able to do that is one of the things that makes bridge Commander and amazing capital ship combat simulator. In my humble opinion.

I believe that the Miranda Class is a precursor to the Defiant Class. The two have practically the same luck when it comes to survivability. Granted the Defiant is smaller than the Miranda but they both are underdogs when the time comes. The worst thing is that the Miranda Class was originally classified as a research class vessel.

WHAT. That is a crazy comparison. That's probably even Star Trek heresy. You see Defiant class ships get roughed up like, two times, on screen. The Valiant, and the original Defiant. The Miranda on the other hand was only badass in The Wrath of Khan. Every other time we see it, it's getting pulverized. By FRIEND and FOE. There is no way that the Miranda is a precursor, I will die on this hill. There is no way you just compared the two. That's actually crazy.

@@beh.r_co-mando.1374 You think I'm reaching here. Yes I know the Reliant was only seen in the movies. The Defiant in DS9. YES Khan used access codes to disable the Enterprise. What you are failing to see is the Reliants weaponry in relation to the Defiants weaponry. The Reliant uses a Precursor of the Defiants Gatling Phasers. These are mounted on either side of the Photon bay Above the main hull. It has a greater rate of fire the Gatling Phasers of the Defiant. The Miranda Class was Categorized as a research/ science class vessel. Are you that Naive to not think that maybe the Reliant was a test bed for such innovations that the Defiant used? How do you think stealth tech started and where do you think it started? Look up the SR71 Black Bird. A US spy plane used in the Cold war. It's not a stretch to follow. Definitely not Hairacy I'm using logic and I am using what history has shown us not just in the Star Trek universe but in reality. Granted there is a lot of fiction in Star Trek but there is even more science and commonality with current technology we use this day and age. The idea of a Gatling weapon was first thought of back in the US civil wars era. So please rethink your comments before you go to calling the kettle black.

I really enjoy this Star Trek Starship Battles.

miranda class was an attack ship in its hey day, the constitution class was a heavy cruiser back in its hey day. even with upgraded tech, the constitution would still have been no contest against the miranda. the constitution would have faded away and the miranda even not in its original mission profile lasted for a century or so along side the Excelsior class. And still both classes had their warp cores handed to them at the dominion war

1:22 - Motion Picture Enterprise never used Phasers. They only fired a single Photon Torpedo. The Phasers weren't used until Wrath of Khan. 😉

I'd love to see a Delta Flyer vs Runabout match up, to see which is the best large multi-mission shuttle design.

It's too bad there wasn't an armored Enterprise refit, to better take on more well equipped foes with its weapons.

The Motion Picture was my first reference.

Trivia: the reason the phasers looked the way they did in Kahn was, that the beam was deemed uncinematic in terms of Impact, in an Audio Visual and Dramatic sense. They first had Kahns ship "rake" a beam over the enterprise. It was really hard to set that up into a dramatic scene. They changed it to several individual impacts. Akin to a series of Hammer blows coming down.

Yeah the Phase 2 Enterprise was supposed to be a TV series and the Phase 2 is a refit of the TOS E but not an actual refit that we actually got. I agree it’s not as powerful as the actual Refit. I agree the Reliant was major superior.

This should quite the people who always point out that any Miranda Class starship is always the first to get destroyed.

There may be a way to canonize the Phase 2 Connie by making her a prototype refit for the Constitution refit as the class leader USS Constitution. This experimental design was pressed into service and participated in the Battle of Caleb IV where she was sadly lost due to Starfleet underestimating the capabilities of the Klingons new K'Tinga class battlecruisers. Following this, Starfleet went back to the drawing board to develop an even more powerful refit for the Constitution Class using the USS Enterprise and, well, the rest is history. On that note can we have the Phase 2 vs a K'Tinga?

I always thought that the Miranda classes ' roll bar weapons pod would've been enough to destroy a constitution class ship.

I never heard of Phase 2, went and looked it up, oh, wow. surprising, Kirk and Spock would have been replaced... hmm I like the Phase 2 Enterprise, looks the part, and love the colors of phasers and torpedoes, but the Reliant, I have that model, after seeing the movies (took my time with this one and Ent D) and here I noticed, the ships jolt when hit by torpedoes.. nice, and eeh yes the whole engineering was gone, ouch.. gosh. wonder if it would have went to warp.. but lol I heard Brex freak out and well.. lol and second round, saucer separation.. oh my.. lol. eeh.. This was a wicked battle Admiral. 😊🖖

It is a nice looking ship. Almost like an alternate reality really. Oh, you're so lucky to have ship models. I kind of missed the boat on that, as Eaglemoss has now gone. I am tempted to get the Corgi Enterprise D. Although it doesn't look a 100% accurate. Hmmm, I wonder if that was why it wouldn't go to warp. I guess engineering is important 🤣. Thanks Steve 🖖

modders have reactivated multiplayer. it is available with the RE version. RB uses a mixture of Remaster and Kobayashi Maru for these vids, but mostly KM.
