That's the cute thing about Terran vessels... most of the larger ships have a saucer section. It's almost as if we were mocking the alien myths of the 20th and 21st centuries. 😄

What a weird ship. K'Vorts are no joke. They are pretty decent medium cruisers. The Firesteel seems like it wants to be part attack ship and part light cruiser. Definitely has superior shields and more robust armor than one might expect for a ship that size. Generally speaking, its lack of a secondary hull means it doesn't have the internal volume to large warp core. It must have like a couple Defiant type warp cores or something to generate that much power for shields.

Make me think that it is a science vessel that had a torpedo pod installed for the sake of self-defense.

Saucer is a retextured Excelsior saucer, and the nacelles are reworked Sovereign nacelles. That puts it as pre-Soveriegn, but part of the same lineage.

Really like it if it was smaller it would make a great scout class.

I really like the design, all jokes aside.

The Firesteel reminds me of a Shanks-Class Light Cruiser from Jackill's Star Fleet Guide.

2:28 There used to be a lot more interesting designs for the early Federation. The DY-series is probably my favourite, technically canon since the TNG episode with the S.S. Mariposa, line-up which fans gave a face. The DY-100 and DY-500 have been canon since "TOS: Space Seed" but the TNG episode has got a panel with the DY-1200 and such. Be sure to let me know what you think of those.

The K’Vort is a battlecruiser. The intention was to design a new battlecruiser to represent something newer than the old K’Tinga. Sadly there was no time or budget so they just put the BOP wings up and pretended it was a different design. I think we’re supposed to pretend it looks a bit different to what we see on screen.

My first thought was that of an early Defiant.

So its a Cortez saucer, with side mounted sovereign nacelles, and an uprated nebula weapons pod with power systems as bad as St3 Enterprise but with extra plot armor and plot shields...

I usually can find the beauty in pretty much any Starfleet ship. I even like the USS Yeager. But this thing is just awful looking. I am now sad.

I really did try to like this ship... But I just can't. Ugly. Romulan looking. And God forbid it meet a vorcha class!

I am sorry. That is one uhly looking dhip that just would not make sense. Just the way the nacelles are is hardly practical or logical.

What a stupid design for a ship.
