The original was a Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli song, which is also beautiful. I use to only listen to mostly country western music until I discovered Pentatonix on the NBC show The Sing Off and they have opened a whole new world of music to me through the 10 years I have followed them. From rap to music like this, all genres which is kind of different because I am in my 70s now. They have never ever disappointed me! Glad you like this Epic performance!

In the studio they are able to electronically build up layers of their voices to produce the chorus effect. In the PENTATONIX THE RECORDING OF EVERGREEN video you can see them actually doing this. Kevin even jokes about how they will never have to hire a choir. Nevertheless, they can do it almost as good live without the layering.

Pentatonix's ability'to deep-seated emotional responses I think it's one of their keys to success. You think one person will take lead and someone else does, they take the song to unexpected places at times, they sometimes have small gaps of Silence that are so effective to bring suspense to the song. They're masters of all of this plus all having otherworldly perfection in their vocals. So pleased you are reacting to them.

I love Dominika's attempts to pause, and she shrugs, like "oh what the.... I cant pause." It' happened in Bohemian Rhapsody and it got blocked, but how do you pause when you're senses are overwhelmed? It's the cover of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli beautiful song. Another great reaction guys. Now I want to hug someone.

There is a difference between a Christmas song and a Spiritual. This is really more of a Spiritual. A Christmas song makes reference to the Holiday. This is an astounding arrangement.

I was waiting for this reaction, i never even mentioned how good Scott (the blonde guy) is in it because the surprise is the best part. Scott is actually ridiculously good from a technical standpoint too, he also sings bass when the bass (Avi or Matt) sings lead, ridiculous range! They all are crazy good Love your reactions. I recommend again one solo (but mostly a capella, multiple layers of him) song from Avi, called Change on the Rise. It's jaw dropping

Scott actually is a baritone, even though he loves to sing a pop tenor most of the time. He recently supported Broadway star Jessica Vosk, who was making her official debut at Carnegie Hall (this is possibly the primo vocal and instrumental venue in the U.S., in New York City), and he did a lot of very romantic and theatrical singing in his proper baritone range - amazing! I hope they will eventually release it to the public (several people released their personal brief phone recordings, but that's all). Mitch's timbre is remarkable in this - you are right, a listener hearing only the audio would assume it was a talented female alto. And it was lovely to hear the Trio (Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch, who have sung together since high school) doing a "round robin" of duets: Scott with Mitch, Scott with Kirstin, Mitch with Kirstin.

Andre and Dominica, you are saying what so many of us experience over and over again. For Pentatonix and Home Free, they cover songs that would "not be my song" and in listening to the original, that is indeed so true. But their arrangements and their style and just their talent make it new and there are no failures! "Like a hug" is the perfect description. Well said!

It is exciting to watch them in the studio in the video PENTATONIX - The Recording Of Evergreen.. would love to hear you react to that so you can see them at work and how well they work together. Please also react to another incredible song on that album OVER THE RIVER.. based on a childhood song but with an amazing twist (the recording of Evergreen video shows them working on the vocals) . It was written by Scott Hoying (tall blond man) for his nephew and he wanted Avi (the bass) Kaplan to sing it as he felt Avi’s voice was just right for the song. Suprisingly, Avi has a tremendous vocal range and the song is sung in a mid-range tenor/baritone and it is a beautiful lullaby.🥰

So many of their songs are in genres that I just don’t like or were songs that I actually disliked. With PTX, I had to learn to ignore my inner snob and just give each song a chance. *facepalm*….all my preconceptions proved wrong and I’ve had to eat my words. PTX takes every song they touch and makes it all their own, and you’re damned well gonna love it!

"The Prayer" was most famously released as a duet by pop singer Celine Dion and Italian operatic tenor Andrea Bocelli in 1999. In this version, Mitch is singing Celine's part, and Scott is singing Andrea's part (which is why Scott began the song by singing in Italian). While the original had a full orchestra backing them up, in this one there are only the voices of the 5 amazing singers of Pentatonix.

When I first saw one of their songs pop up on my recommendations. I was rather dismissive because I tend to steer free from pop groups. Then I got curious about their Daft Punk medley years later. I realize just what I was missing after having brushed aside their works. Their voices really are like a warm gentle soothing hug that is always welcomed when your day isn’t going so great.

Tina Arena and Anthony Callea, australian singers with Italian heritage, did a beautiful rendition of this as well.

Enjoy Your reactions. You should react to Citizen Queen. An all female accapella group. Have a great day.

The original version is by Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion (two absolute legends; amongst the most respected vocalists in the world) so some of the lyrics were indeed Italian.

Please add “Shallow” and “Can’t Hold Us” to your list of PTX experiences - those two songs are totally different…Shallow is an epic anthem song and Can’t Hold Us shows off their rapping skills. Also, I know it’s not Christmas but their version of O Come All Ye Faithful is completely fresh and unique.

Yes. O Come All Ye Faithfull turned a lovely, but boring Christmas song into a bop that gets you on your feet! Also give 12 Days of Christmas a listen. It starts out traditionally and then explodes in true PTX fashion!

Guys, I love your channel, and have commented on some of your reactions. I also am in awe of Pentatonix, Home Free, and all other a cappella groups in this world. The talents are amazing. However, I am more focused on the song itself. Obviously this is a cover, and a lot of artists have done covers of this particular song. Just suggesting, it'd be fun to compare all artists that performed it 😀😀😂👍🌺
