@@user-wq9mw2xz3jIt's a show about magic, that's why. Firstly, not every magician creates their own methods from scratch, even P&T themselves buy a lot of their tricks from other magicians. In fact, just about every trick you've ever seen relies on the same basic set of methods just presented in a different way, because the audience doesn't care about the method, they care about the performance. Secondly, every single episode of Fool Us features at least one or two acts where the producers know for sure that the method is not going to fool P&T, but they book them anyway because those acts are specifically there for the audience to enjoy. The vast majority of people who saw this performance have absolutely no idea how it was done, and it would be the first time they've ever seen someone refill and reseal a crumpled Coke can. For those people, this was the best act of the night by far, so much better than the acts that fooled P&T, because it's a stunningly visual performance that looks like real, genuine, mindblowing magic. You've made the silly mistake of thinking this show is just about fooling P&T. It's not. That's the _conceit_ of the show, but what the show is _actually_ about is giving magicians from around the world a platform and exposing them to a massive audience. Penn himself has said that on multiple occasions, the fooling part is just the excuse they came up with to be able to show this much magic on TV.

This performance is so alive and heartwarming! I've seen many magicians focus on the trick's complexity, rather than delivery. So even though they may fool Penn and Teller, it feels kinda empty after the trick is done. I know it's not much, compared to the trophy, but, you, kind sir, have definitely made my day better and I want to express my gratitude in return. Good luck to you and your family!

Come back with a better trick next time...maybe some kind of memorable gimmick...

One of the things I loved about this act (besides the excellent legerdemain) is the story. It's one thing to be able to make a cookie disappear or make an empty, crushed soda can restore and refill. But tying all those magic elements together with a story that is also entertaining and sincere to boot, well... it was smooth, it was seamless, it was entertaining, and it was heartwarming. A very well-done presentation. Congratulations.

I really enjoyed this trick, because to quote Penn's comments on another act: "we couldn't predict the plot of it." I don't think anyone would predict the liquid disappearing much less reappearing in the can. That's really novel. While it may not have tricked two of the greatest magicians, that's a pretty great trick.

I love this, so good dude. Really great performance and the patter was excellent. This is one of those acts where the producers knew with absolutely certainty you wouldn't be fooling P&T - the method is just far too well known at this point, the allusion to Blaine goes all the way back to his very first street magic special after all - but they booked you anyway because they knew the crowd would go absolutely crazy trying to figure it out. Frankly I think these kinds of acts are just as, if not more, important than the acts designed to fool P&T because they're the acts that really keep the sense of magic alive for everyone watching, not just the magicians. Beautifully done mate.

When Penn said he drinks the same cola as David Blaine, he meant that the soda can trick was from David Blaine. Make a small hole in an unopened can and empty enough out so that it can be bent. Also cover the tab hole with black paper so it looks opened. If you cover the hole you made with your finger and shake the can the gas will expand the soda can back to original size. Removing the tab covering make it look like it was restored to unopened. This version though, way better than DB's.

Very weird bit of real science: if you rub your fingertip on the side of your nose to get some skin oil on it and THEN dip it into the Coke, it will break up the foam super quickly and can even make the Coke go flat!

can trick is old. can switch when it goes behind the SARAH bag, empty can swapped for half-empty can, where some soda was let out via small hole, then plugged with superglue or waterproof tape, just so it can be crushed. uncrushing is done by gas pressure after shaking it. the "opening" is just a black cover, which you removed with finger. that's why when pouring it into glass again, it was only about half the glass. vanishing liquid i'm not sure about, since there are more than 1 way to make it happen.

I could tell how the shoe bit was done - but it surprised me the first time. I figured it out the second. I have a guess about the disappearing pop, and an idea for the reappearing full can, but not certainty. And, indeed, I was still surprised by the whole thing.

Great performance :) But easy to explain. The soda can is real. The fluid is real. When the can gets crushed, it's placed inside the back from an opening in the back of the bag. The bag also covers a second crushed can behind it. That is why the bag is needed. The second can is actually closed and filled for 2/3. When he shakes it, the pressure blows it up. Then he removes the black sticker simulating the opening. When he pours the soda it fills the glass only 2/3 from before because a crushed can can't hold a full glass. That could be hidden by only pouring some soda. And the empty glass? Is placed exactly where it needs to be on the table before he hides it behind his back. The ice covers the hole where the soda flows into the table. And that's why there is a table. And that's how you do magic with a bag, a table, a glass and two cans of soda :( Still a great performance, but too easy for P&T and veteran viewers :)

The crushed can trick has been around for a long time. I'm no magician, but did that trick a few times a decade ago (I think). It is fun to plan ahead and pull a can from the recycling. The presentation here was fun, and the empty glass really surprised me. I don't really think how tricks are done is that important. I like the surprise.
