It's actually quite simple. They create code for every object in the world and every name in the world, and then memorize all 7 billion people on the planet as well as what their relationships are with eachother. Easy.

Absolutely mystifying you two, nothing short of sheer sorcery. Amazing. Y’know I binge watch this show all the time and I’ve gotten to the point where if Penn & Teller know, I usually can figure it out 75% of the time with other acts. Going into this act knowing the show does not allow for audience plants or pre-show work, and he brandishes the glasses case in plain sight, I thought “Penn and Teller themselves said all blindfolds are fake, she can see the glasses case, game over”. ...And then she says “Is your name Vivian” and from then on I sat there like a little kid not understanding absolutely anything that was happening.

does anyone remember the trick called THE WIZARD? let me take you back... You ask someone to pick ANY card from a deck and then you get your phone and call the wizard.. the wizard is supposed to know exactly what card your friend selected. After asking if the wizard knows what card they chose, you hand the phone to the person who picked the card and the wizard tells then over the phone EXACTLY the card they selected. Well you have a friend (Th wizard)who is in on it, you instruct them to answer the phone when you call them, as soon as you ask May I speak to the Wizard, they will start saying Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, Clubs.... as soon as they say the suit, you interrupt them by asking if the wizard can guess the persons card. At this point they (friend on the phone) says Ace, two, three, ......until the value of the card is mentioned. Once it is you say Okay hold one here he is,,, you pass the phone over to the person who picked the card and the wizard in a deep voice says the name of the card.

The act is totally baffling, Teller is in awe (and lost for words) Penn’s words of praise and admiration are exceptional, and the lovely Alyson thoughtfully adds to the compliments. Keep in mind that all these P&T shows are pre-recorded for TV and are carefully edited in post production to squeeze the show within its network timeslot - and that same editing work is also used to be sure the show doesn't accidently give away the performer's trick. So every time we see cuts between camera shots, we can assume we're not seeing the entire performance - especially anything to tip us off! That said, if Penn says he was legitimately impressed then that's enough for me.

I have educated guesses, but ultimately that's all they are. Magic is a puzzle that only the magician knows the solution to. I have a lot pieces in the right spots, but I'm missing quite a few. All I'm saying is I appreciate this trick more because of my basic understanding of the routine from this awesome book series. If you really want to know, here are the three rules of magic: 1) Never do the same trick twice 2) A good magician never reveals their secrets 3) You can ignore rules one and two if you pay enough money That being said, most the secrets of magic are ugly. Once you know, you can't unknow. If you're okay with that, then feel free to read the books yourself.

Hi guys very well done. I know of permorfances like this (starting from houdin, to modern mentalist like maven, banachek, brown, and that the french guy i'll never rember his name). ANd i think you did it excpetionally good, with the greatest class and smile on your face one could ever have (instead of the usual "spooky" way). Greetings!!! Could you PM me the essential books I should read about it? Cause it's twentyfive years now that I'm a fan of this art, i can perform some of the most difficult slight of hand (still, can't go from backpalm to the other side fluently TBH-______-). WOuld you? I'm now dying to remember the "french guy" name (well it was fluent in english too, so I think he is french canadian or something)(and I think he's now dead-___-). He was famous for an ambition card routine where he goes back and forth in time, a phamplet i bought on the internet some decades ago (but lost after an hard disk failure :/) where he explains about body language, and the blindfold performance. Please help at least on this one!!!

Yeah usually a third party mingling with folks before the show starts. That guy had a pretty unique name, it's possible that they just found him on Facebook to get the mom's name. But knowing that the watch was a gift from his mother is pure "mind reader" technique.

Great act!! I believe that for the part with Penn and Teller and the numbers on the bill, there is some kind of code or system of communication, very well performed though, because you cannot really tell if there is anything out of the order. However, the thing that blows my mind even more, is the part with the name guesses. Even if there was a code or a system between you two (I'm not saying there isn't, it just can't explain everything), how on earth did you get the names of the people right? I could say that the people were not randomly chosen and were part of the act, but I'm guessing that's not allowed. So HOW??? :D :D Just amazing!
