I totally agree. He showed them an old trick with added asian technique. Even in their prime, they could not have done this as smoothly as Daxien did.... And I'm disappointment they didn't say that outright.

@@CalvinSzeMagic Fool Us is also an ad vehicle for magicians, first and foremost. The real reason people go on the show has nothing to do with P&T directly, because both the person(s) on stage and P&T know that the magician(s) are primarily trying to get their act on TV. Outside of casino shows and magic specific venues, there aren't too many places where it is financially viable to get hired for a major show. The tricks that might actually fool P&T are often not the ones that are showy and draw an audience, which is the main point of the show.

Yeah I absolutely enjoyed his performance of it. Sometimes it's simply not about trying to reinvent a trick, but how it's performed that makes all the difference. And besides, he got a new sub out of me. I look forward to seeing his other tricks.

Ya, I watched it frame at a time and you can definitely see his right hand disappear under the bowl while throwing something.. but.. it's hard to see how he's got enough room to palm two real eggs (and presumably one fake squishy one). But, it's possible he actually slights the two real eggs one at a time just before he cracks em open. In other words, 3 fake eggs on the table, he palms one real egg in his hand as he picks up one of the 3 fake squishy ones, cracks the real one, discards shell and first squishy one, while he palms the 2nd real one, picks up 2nd squishy one, cracks real.. discards shell and 2nd squishy, and then picks up last fake one to start the chicken trick, which he pretty clearly loads from the back edge of the table.

Penn and Teller are in the role of being "savvy", and her role is to be the clueless audience surrogate, even though I'm sure she has picked up a lot over the past several years. It's a show in celebration of magic. She exaggerated her reactions, as do Penn and Teller to some extent, because they want to hype up these magicians, even if they sometimes see through the act.

This was not only the best Cups&Balls, it was the funniest ever. Damien, you have such a great character and great humor and a huge talent, it's a pleasure to watch you. Only one chicken at the end was unnecessary, because there was no trick involved and it diminished your art a little bit. even though i second guessed the ending, the moment the large pans came out and it was eggs.. i still brought out the childlike awe in me, to see the chicken (despite already anticipating it). You finesse in handling the props and some of the misdirection really add stars to the performance.

Several years ago I had the privilege of seeing Penn and Teller live and they performed the cups and balls.....with transparent cups. It was funny and still amazing. I think many of us know how it's done. For many aspiring magicians, it's one of the first serious slight of hand trick they will learn. At least for me, that doesn't matter when I see a version like this done with humor and originality.

This gentleman was amazing, and very funny, and would love to see more of him doing other magic! I have a good understanding of how cups and balls work and I tried to follow what he was doing and when, and it was impossible! His technique was just perfect, and all of those fast hand movements just made it that more confusing. I still said out loud to myself "where the F--- did that come from???" hahaha I knew he probably wouldn't fool them, but sometimes Penn and Teller just like and just want to be entertained. :-)

She didn't seem to pay any attention at all since she was like "oh is that what you call it" at the end when he was saying that first thing performing his trick...talk about disrespect for the performer, she acts like a dumb blond.

Alison brought such an authentic vibe to all of her interactions with the guests. This new host has some pretty big shoes to fill.
The name of his trick is “三仙歸洞” ( San Xian Gui Dòng), it means "Three Immortals Return to the Cave".😄

I love this! Not only are his hands extremely fast, but the amount of false moves he made to try and throw Penn and Teller off

Ya, I watched it frame at a time and you can definitely see his right hand disappear under the bowl while throwing something.. but.. it's hard to see how he's got enough room to palm two real eggs (and presumably one fake squishy one). But, it's possible he actually slights the two real eggs one at a time just before he cracks em open. In other words, 3 fake eggs on the table, he palms one real egg in his hand as he picks up one of the 3 fake squishy ones, cracks the real one, discards shell and first squishy one, while he palms the 2nd real one, picks up 2nd squishy one, cracks real.. discards shell and 2nd squishy, and then picks up last fake one to start the chicken trick, which he pretty clearly loads from the back edge of the table.
he might not of fooled em on how the trick was done, but they didn't know how many balls were where so technically he did fool them.

@@markoshun if they couldn't guess the balls, Technically they got fooled. Just because you "know" how a trick works, doesn't mean you werent tricked, in this case 'fooled" by pure skill.
Excellent magic! Clearly the hostess was not paying attention when he said what the trick was called.

Penn and Teller are in the role of being "savvy", and her role is to be the clueless audience surrogate, even though I'm sure she has picked up a lot over the past several years. It's a show in celebration of magic. She exaggerated her reactions, as do Penn and Teller to some extent, because they want to hype up these magicians, even if they sometimes see through the act.
Nice job! That was a great performance. This might be the cups and balls trick at heart, but it was performed in a much more advanced fashion.

the ending got me completely bamboozled. taking an age-old trick and changing the outcomes is pretty genius....makes people go "oh i know how this goes", then something completely different happens just blows their mind

I'd love to see a photo montage of the many, many facial expressions we saw ranging from happy to sad, astonished, questioning, or in fear for her very life! She was a true asset and I'll miss her.

I know all there is to know about the cups and balls. But this man made that all brand NEW. It was rapid fire, fun, funny, intense, and totally IMPOSSIBLE. I loved it!!
To do the balls and cups in front of penn and teller takes guts, to do it this damn well takes incredible skill. This is one of my favorite tricks, i love slight of hand and i always love seeing new takes on it

so very good and entertaining. funny and charismatic, I trully love that guy and his act! for the fact of fooling them or not, well, the only thing i can say is, watch their face when the 3 eggs appeared under the giant steel cover the last time : they were totally fool and you can clearly see it in their eyes. good job man!
I love you! You are are a true magician. The magic starts just by you walking on stage. That is very rare. Most people do tricks, but you do magic! (didn't fool me either, but I loved it)
This was not only the best Cups&Balls, it was the funniest ever. Damien, you have such a great character and great humor and a huge talent, it's a pleasure to watch you. Only one chicken at the end was unnecessary, because there was no trick involved and it diminished your art a little bit. Otherwise a perfect routine and I would love to watch a show from you in Austria :)

this slight of hand is honestly some of the most polished i have ever seen, with eggs bruh 10/10
even though i second guessed the ending, the moment the large pans came out and it was eggs.. i still brought out the childlike awe in me, to see the chicken (despite already anticipating it). You finesse in handling the props and some of the misdirection really add stars to the performance.
Several years ago I had the privilege of seeing Penn and Teller live and they performed the cups and balls.....with transparent cups. It was funny and still amazing. I think many of us know how it's done. For many aspiring magicians, it's one of the first serious slight of hand trick they will learn. At least for me, that doesn't matter when I see a version like this done with humor and originality.
It’s very hard to fool P&T with the cups and balls trick. But gosh that was, as Penn said, the best ever version and that even means the clear plastic cup version they did. What an incredible trick and sleight of hand, absolute extraordinary, what a huge talent.
Best one for me. First time cups and balls performer made me laugh from within.. The Chinese version deserves my big applaud 👏👏👏

This gentleman was amazing, and very funny, and would love to see more of him doing other magic! I have a good understanding of how cups and balls work and I tried to follow what he was doing and when, and it was impossible! His technique was just perfect, and all of those fast hand movements just made it that more confusing. I still said out loud to myself "where the F--- did that come from???" hahaha I knew he probably wouldn't fool them, but sometimes Penn and Teller just like and just want to be entertained. :-)

a lot of the magicians they bring on, they know they won't fool them, but P&T like to encourage and bring attention to talented magicans all over the world, and that is neat.

yeah, there are some magicians who are just really good at performing old tricks but just making them better and cleaner than you've ever seen before.

I don't think they're actual "eggs"... Probably foam of some sort because he palms them all in the right hand and quickly puts them under before putting bowl down... It seems he does slight of hand when he cracks the eggs
