Today is a very odd episode of the Locked On Penguins podcast as Hunter is in studio recording while Pat had to pre-record his takes since he's on the road. They start the show with Drew O'Connor's season in review as they continue their season review series. They discuss how DOC finally put it together for this season after it looked a bit dicey for him to start his career. Hunter dives into the data and how DOC played with Crosby compared to without him and where he fits into next year's lineup. Pat then gives his review for DOC and even gives him a grade before the two shout out Brayden Yager and Moose Jaw for advancing to their first-ever Memorial Cup. They go into how great Yager was during the playoffs (like Wednesday a little bit) and ponder whether he can up his game even more in the Memorial Cup. Pat, great shout-out to the “Illustrious HH.” You guys are a great team! Jake-Sid chemistry (or Stevens-Lemieux, as I like to fondly remember those days).
Hunter, I think doc would be a beast on the third line, but I'd rather him grow on the first line and spend the money on a new 3c and bump eller down. That would make for 4 pretty darn good lines.
Yager is a stud. Hopefully will be a great penguin for years. I do want to see how he performs in moose jaw next season as every opponents objective to stop. He's had great players around him the last few seasons. Mateychuk is gonna be a stud in the nhl. Firkus should be s pretty good player as well. Doc had a good season. His development is an upward trajectory. 33 points is a good season him. Dont think he will ever be a star but he pitches in 15 to 20 goals playing 3rd line minutes thats fine with me. If he plays on sid's line all next season he needs 20 to 25 goals and 50 to 60 pts to be a good season. Im hoping for a 3rd line role for him and the pens sign a top 6 forward free agent or trade for one
Honestly if Dubas is serious about getting younger Yager should get a legit chance at a lineup spot next season. If he comes to camp and obviously isn't ready that's a different story, but if he shows any promise whatsoever he should make the team if Dubas is serious about getting younger.

Put him on some Mexican supplements right after the season. Whl doesn't test in the offseason they'll be out of his system by the time his NHL drug testing starts he'll have 15 to 20 more pounds on his frame. Jk, but I've heard rumours of prospects doing that🤪
Jager and Jagger are awesome but Denton Mateychuk is on an even higher level. When they came to Swift Current he was crazy. Haven't seen a d man dictate a game like him since Jay Bouwmeester, obviously play different styles. Jay was a man amongst boys style, Mateychuk is brains and skills
Yager's gonna look sweet in a nailers/penguins jersey, can't wait to see how much better he can develop (knock on wood) in the minors.

Pretty sure if he doesn't play and stay in Pittsburgh it will be back to WHL. But that not a bad thing as if he's not ready for his NHL contract won't start (at least that's my understanding)

Yes that’s correct, he’ll have to go back to the WHL if he doesn’t make the team since he won’t be 20 yet
