What stuns me the most about Jelena is how well she moves despite not having a fitter build. She has marvelous timing when she's calm and has explosive baseline drives which had Paula scrambling. Jelena really is a beautiful ball striker when her heart is in it. RG should be a very interesting GS this year 🤞🏽

Ostapenko and Badosa both are suddenly much fitter than last year. It's obvious both in the way they look and the way they move. Maybe it's a reaction to their poor results last year, or maybe it's a reaction to the sudden dominance of the S-S-R trio, particularly the fact that Swiatek combines great movement with power. Whatever it is, it's good to see them come back from near irrelevance. They are fun to watch.

Ostapenko’s game is fun to watch. The power and precision is immaculate when she plays well. Her power is effortless and she has the ability to create power shots from anywhere. Her attitude is even getting better, not as bratty as she was. Hope she continues to play well and grow as a person ❤

Amen! She is growing up, dare I say it, and humbled by some harder years, she's probably appreciating the wins and putting in the work like everyone else. Even though her ball striking puts her a cut above, she still has to work and stay humble. I love watching her hit - she reminds me of my all-time fave Monica Seles.

Congrats Ostapenko! When she's firing on all cylinders, Jelena is hard to beat. Ostapenko vs Muchova with their contrasting styles of play and personalities would have been even more interesting to watch.

When ostapenko plays like this she is THE BEST of the world, she can beat anyone. Badosa did well to win a set with ostapenko's level. I hope she feels good for RG because at the end of the match she was not feeling well

Love her or hate her, Jelena is incredibly entertaining on clay. Great match from her.

her court position is so assertive - never backs off - half volleys opponents deep shots very well & if their length / direction wavers slightly she is taking everything on top of the bounce - but.....so does Iga..will be very interesting when they meet

When Ostapenko can be consistent she has the power to take anyone off the court. It's just a matter of if she can allow herself more margin for error, that's how she was able to dominate at French Open first time.

totally agree, saw the match and the consisetency Jelena displayed blew me away, usually she attacks for 4-5times and if the opponents hold on, she commits errors, and that's how her opponents win points in most of time, with the stability she presented yesterday, she could be unbeatable, hope she can keep the form.

Badosa played an amazing match, nothing to be ashamed of, such a great competitor👍. Penko was just unplayable for most of the match. Hopefully she can take this to the next round, she'll need to be at her best against Swiatek/Rybakina.

No doubt she uses her body well to fire her shots and her overall level is impressive for sure but she is mega out of shape for a professional athlete. Compare her body to Badosa ... She is not "big boned" but just fat (relatively to that level of professional tennis)... But again - whatever works works and if you are winning matches like this it obviously is somewhat good and respectable for sure.

@@johanneshoch9724 She was definitely slimmer in 2017 but to say she's fat i think is a stretch. She's just thick, she's actually quicker and has more stamina than people give her credit for. There's no way she's beating these top girls without being at least relatively fit.

Jelena is BumbleBee of Tennis World. She is short and heavy and most people would assume she cannot play tennis but she doesn't care and plays fantastic tennis. I've seen her live, she is force of nature. Her energy level is insane, she is fast and her stamina is impressive. Add great ground-strokes and here we are: she defeats Badosa. On a good day Jelena can beat any top10 player without sweat.

Yes I think Penko will beat Rybakina. I think she's hungry for this title, and most importantly, another FO.

Paula is currently ranked among 35-30, just now she rose to 29th gaining 6places, former No2 was over a year ago, the commentators somehow always favor some athletes, when Sakkari is playing they do not say former No3, they say 9th seed. Anyway, great game from both, especially Jelena, Paula has to be more consistent in order to rise again to top ten.

That is my point. Common sense says you should avoid being just a REBOUND WALL when dealing with a hard hitting player. Stop hitting the ball back at Ostapenko and MAKE HER DO THE FULL COURT RUNNING EXERCISES-- NOT YOU !!! When you make a bigger player hoist their extra weight around the court then you will tire them out and they will 1) make more mistakes and 2) it won't be so easy to set up for power shots when you are constantly on the run---which ironically is exactly what she is doing to her dumb-struck opponents--what a laugh !?!

Lo puedes ver en semifinales de Roland Garros 2017 (ella abraza con Bacsinszki) y en final (con Halep). En lo mismo año en algun torneo de mil puntos en China cuando Halep ganó a ella y Ostapenko felicitó a Halep por lograr por fin el número uno con esta victoria. Y hay muchas veces más: la anterior con Kasatkina hace dos días.
