I love how Ostapenko doesn't care about who's on the other side of the net - their ranking, recent performances etc. She just goes and plays her game - sometimes, she's a total washout, but when she's firing on all cylinders, like today, Jelena's game is top-notch.

I think she has some strength in her game...even then it's only against certain opponents. At the US Open for example, she managed to beat Iga but 2 days later she lost easily to Coco. Ostapenko is unpredictable...just like no one expected her to win the french open 6 years ago.

Seems Ostapenko is now starting to find her winning form again.🏆 She went through deep waters with the death of her dad a few years ago. That was a big loss that impacted her attitude, physical and mental form.🙏💙

Great tennis displayed by Jalena! She is really lethal when she is focused and concentrated enough to limit unforced errors. 24 winners and just 11 unforced errors! Amazing!

Jelena Ostapenko in this match was completely unplayable. She was so relentless. Jelena Ostapenko completely outplayed Jessica Pegula in this match. The way how she held her service game in second set third game despite facing 4 back to back breakpoints was fenomenal. And she committed only 11 unforced errors in this match. What a performance by the Latvian. Jelena Ostapenko in this match was on fire. She truly deserves this win and place in the quarter-finals of this tournament. She played smart and didn't allow to Jessica Pegula to get ahead. Anna Blinkova against Pegula too had the right idea on how to play against Pegula only she unlike Ostapenko didn't have the skills to execute it properly. Ostapenko was aggressive and fearless from the start to finish and if she will keep this up she might be one of the favorites to win this entire tournament. This victory over Jessica Pegula after losing 3 times in a row to her must be something special for her. Jelena Ostapenko was ready for this match. By defeating Jessica Pegula this easily she is sending a message to other tennis players to watch out for her. When Jelena Ostapenko is on and is firing all cylinders she can't be defeated or at least she is toughest opponent to all tennis players. She also was incredibly consistent in this match. Congratulations to Ostapenko on winning this match and advancing into quarter-finals of this tournament. I hope that she'll defeat incredibly sexy Liudmila Samsonova.

Pegula played poorly today. I think she just was not dialed in. She played into the Hands of Ostapenko, she is easy to nuke, by disrupting her game, just like Sabalenka, they just hit hard, that is it. If you can disrupt their long shots you are way past there, and key is move quick.

Ostapenko's just doing her thing. I was a little distracted by Pegula's triple-pleated dress. I thought those outfits are suppose to be comfortable on court??

Jelena has lost some weight and she's been playing better, whether she's playing better due to the weight loss that we don't really know. She is not a favorite of mine due to her being nasty way too many times towards other players. Sorry for Jessi's loss.
