Some nice ones in that haul and they all seem well cared for. The Sibelius/Gibson I think is one of the most beautiful sounding common SPA’s going. So I recommend giving that a listen before selling on.

The cover of the Holst/Planets is very nice. I have a Karajan/Tchaikovsky with a similar "metallic" treatment. I am suspicious about the Argerich in the DG Signature collection and how they could squeeze one complete concerto on each side ; not the best way to achieve sonic excellence, I suppose. The Brahms/Gilels/Jochum and the Kyung Wha Ching seem great. Anyway, enjoy your haul.

On the Argerich - the Tchaikovsky is on 2 sides - the 3rd movement runs to a second side. The Liszt is only a 15 minute concerto so fits after the 3rd Tchaikovsky movement.

@@LPCLASSICALLiszt ! Of course ! I was too quick and thought I've read "Chopin" on the cover. On a side note, I have a Kubelik / Mahler 5 in this series ("Signature"), the whole 68 minutes symphony on one LP only. That's the risk with (budget) reissue.

That's a bit of a squeeze. The Mozart concertos tend to be about 25 minutes or less so fit nicely on 1 side.

I don't tend to go for box sets, though I have a few (such as The Nine Beethoven Symphonies, conducted by Klemperer, on EMI). What is your own objection to box sets? Is it that you think their quality is less than individually produced records?

No problem with quality. Mainly as a collector - the individual LPs are released and then when the cycle is complete - they appear as a box set. It is nice to have the individual LPs in their jackets as they are the early issues plus getting out a box set to find a particular concerto - is less convenient.

Digital is ok. I just think analogue recording at their best on record sound better than any digital recording.

Do you separate the records by pressing location ? Or are they arranged alphabetically ?
