I am getting perfect in modal verbs. It couldn't have been possible without your clear explanation.
Thank you for making this very clear to me. I should not have listened when somebody told me that this was not used in English. Now I realized that he didn't know grammar. Kudos to you!
I could have become a master of English, if I started watching this brilliant channel before!

Your explanation is so powerful as I learned tiny thread differences, which shouldn't have taught in our classes. Thanks 😊😉

Dear Teacher, this is a difficult grammar point. As a foreigner who lives off the Iles, my learning pattern consists of two phases at least, 1. Catch the idea - learn to understand 2 memories and find the techniques to use the grammar or vocab, whatever I have just understood. Dear Teacher Gideon, can you help with implementing point two.
you are a gold man, with no smile!
Thanks to Let Them Talk
Woow!! Such difficult grammar and you make them look so easy. Thanks a lot!!!

Hello, Gideon! Great job! I'm chuffed to bits by your useful lessons and great videos, too. Talking about English grammar rules, we also have "ought to" as present modal, don't we? 1. Is there any "ought to have" or "ought to've" as past modal in English grammar? 2. Is there any "ought have to" or "ought've to" as past modal in English grammar? 3. So, what is the past modal of "ought to" itself in English grammar and the negative form of its past modal? 4. What is the difference between "ought to" and "must" and "have to" in English grammar? 5. What is the past modal of "have to" in English grammar? Thanks in advance.

We have another video about "ought to". yes "ought to have" exists though in British English it's not used so much....but yes it's possible. I'll much answer your other questions in a future video.

Much obliged for answering my question. All right, then. Thanks for having a plan to answer my other questions in a future video.
Thank you Gideon! Can must also be used to mean a high probability but not certainty? For example, By the time I get home, dinner must be ready. That is, dinner will be probably ready when I get home, but I'm not quite sure. Thank you.

No, you can't. In the present tense MUST is used for obligation. Your statement sounds like a threat. Thanks
I fell by chance on your channel. I couldn't stop binging your videos. I learned a lot, thank you very much. But my only regret is that for 30 years I still don't understand the usage of "might" . Every other modal verbs translated differently in French and make them somehow not that hard to understand (je voudrais,j'aimerais, je veux) but "I might" is really a mystery for me ;-)

Pour "I shall", j'ai laissé tombé ;-)
I would have watched your lesson much early, had I avoided many awkward misunderstandings. However, I should have studied more English grammar but I couldn't have been able to determine my English capacity. I have wrongly thought that I was not keen enough to understand this topic, but I could have understood well, maybe I might have needed to meet a good teacher like you early
If I haven't got a time today to check my Gmail account which linked this cite, I really would have missed this great lesson from you! I might have forgotten this one by one but this would've been embedded to my instinct. I may have lacked attention for it for I was a very busy man but I couldn't have forgotten it because this has always been my source to learn and brush up my knowledge further.
Great explanation
Thanks for detail
ı wouldn't have learned many things from you, if ı didn't find out about your amazing channel.
Thank you for the lesson! Please, explain me if it is possible to make such questions: Must she have missed her train? Could he have helped her?
great grammar lesson, couldn't have been better..
Excellent as always. Why not making a summary at the end of the video or in the description ?
OMG! Gideon I really love your lessons, yet I I'm afraid they're a little bit hard for me at the moment, since I'm concentrated in the CAE test preparation. I'll get back in a few weeks! With appreciation and... Stay mellow!

You teach very well
A late thank you for this video! I have struggles when I use them, even if already know the past modals. This is exactly what I needed for a good refresh. Thank you very much, I wish you to have a good day, sir.
I have been waiting for this lesson! Thank you! There is a difficulty, teacher. It is during conversation, where people use contractions all the time and it is not so clear. Teacher, you could make a video, short, with some sentences where you use contractions. Now, the homework: (me in future) “If I had watched this lesson five times, I would have become more proficient at spoken English.”.

I would like to hear your comment about this example that I've come across recently in an exercise in a grammar book written by some American writers. There was this sentence about the possible causes of dinosaur extinction: Sentence: Probably, dinosaurs didn't survive the cold. (must not) -Rewrite --> Dinosaurs must not have survived the cold. Students are supposed to rewrite the sentences using the words in brackets. The rewrite is from the answer key; however, it does not sound right to me. It would sound more meaningful to me if it was like "dinosaurs might not have survived the cold" although I am not a native speaker. I am a fluent and a proficient speaker of English, though. :)
Very nice sir..........
I could have learned it before but I never had so nice explanations.

Hi, actually I know about the structure of them but I can't recognize when I should use would've or could've or might have they are so similar . And I'm confused , I wonder if you could offer some ways for this problem .
What does "stay mellow" mean? 12:17 Thanks for the class.
