Here are 5 extremely common grammar mistakes than English learners make. Be careful if you are translating from your own language because sometimes we say things very differently in English. There are 5 grammar challenges in all. How many do you know.

    "Yes, let's" must be a UK thing. Here in the States people are more likely to say, "Yeah, sure," "Sounds good," etc.

    It is proper to say yes. Do not use slang unless you are around your friends who do not care or maybe from poor backgrounds.

    In India we say 'yes,definitely ', 'why not',' sure' and even 'sounds good' ..depending on the context..And I think that's perfectly fine.

    @@ratherbfishing455 lol what? I've probably said some other alternative 1000 times for every time I've said yes. Sometimes it sounds stiff and in most situations I think yeah, sure, sounds good or something else are more appropriate expressions. English is a very casual language overall in my experience

    A very insightful choice of mistakes. Most Mediterranean languages (and others I might be unaware of) do feature the mistaken version of almost all of these cases. My native language, Greek, is no exception. It took me forever to work out why "run in the park" should be a mistake, and "if yes" and "forget something at...(place)" are perfectly correct in Greek. So first language interference is inevitable there. Thanks again, keep up the great work!

  • @petelobl
    @petelobl4 жыл бұрын

    new yorker here, i disagree with you about ‘i run’ vs ‘i go running’ .. i would say either of your choices. in fact, using the one with fewer syllables is quicker, so if my information is understood correctly, i see no need to add useless baggage. “i run every day in the park before i start work/school/etc.” love the palm tree !

    I’ve become fascinated with these videos. I’m a native English speaker, and, as such, am not used to analysing the language I use. I’m learning a lot from you about why I say the things I do. The use of go -ing for a leisure activity was interesting, although I wanted to say “I go for a run” rather than “I go running”. Is this just an acceptable alternative?
