Here are 5 extremely common grammar mistakes than English learners make. Be careful if you are translating from your own language because sometimes we say things very differently in English. So you'll learn the difference between "swimming" and "go swimming", when NOT to use YES and NO in English. How to respond to SHALL WE questions and much more.
There are 5 grammar challenges in all. How many do you know.

"Yes, let's" must be a UK thing. Here in the States people are more likely to say, "Yeah, sure," "Sounds good," etc.

It is proper to say yes. Do not use slang unless you are around your friends who do not care or maybe from poor backgrounds.

In India we say 'yes, definitely ', 'why not',' sure' and even 'sounds good' ..depending on the context..And I think that's perfectly fine.

We say those in the UK too, he's speaking more traditionally

@@ratherbfishing455 lol what? I've probably said some other alternative 1000 times for every time I've said yes. Sometimes it sounds stiff and in most situations I think yeah, sure, sounds good or something else are more appropriate expressions. English is a very casual language overall in my experience

@@ratherbfishing455 Being proper is also a UK thing. And using the word "proper".

OK, you got me on the forgot/left one. I always assumed that 'left' is used if it was done intentionally and 'forgot' if you truly forgot. Nowadays, I'm 'leaving' an awful lot of things at home, none by design, I assure you.
0 out of 5. Terrible failure. I need to read Wren & Martin's books on grammar again. Thank you for this humbling video.
We need more of this grammer for advanced please. Thank you
A very insightful choice of mistakes. Most Mediterranean languages (and others I might be unaware of) do feature the mistaken version of almost all of these cases. My native language, Greek, is no exception. It took me forever to work out why "run in the park" should be a mistake, and "if yes" and "forget something at...(place)" are perfectly correct in Greek. So first language interference is inevitable there. Thanks again, keep up the great work!
new yorker here, i disagree with you about ‘i run’ vs ‘i go running’ .. i would say either of your choices. in fact, using the one with fewer syllables is quicker, so if my information is understood correctly, i see no need to add useless baggage. “i run every day in the park before i start work/school/etc.” love the palm tree !

Exactly. This isn't a "grammar mistake" - it's just a stylistic choice.

Brilliant! Many thanks for making this and the other videos. Finally something for more advanced learners of English :).
Nice! Thanks for taking the time to prepare it for us.
I've watched numerous videos about "go" on youtube. However, the videos never clarify why we add "go" before and verb(ing). Thanks for this, you know what you are doing, unlike the others
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You are a fantastic teacher. :)
I have never ever went to a language school, just listened to native speakers, so all my knowledge is from mirroring them, which is exactly how you learn language initially, but it is very useful to know why things are as they are. I love the channel, so keep it up!
I’ve become fascinated with these videos. I’m a native English speaker, and, as such, am not used to analysing the language I use. I’m learning a lot from you about why I say the things I do. The use of go -ing for a leisure activity was interesting, although I wanted to say “I go for a run” rather than “I go running”. Is this just an acceptable alternative?
