How to Use the Perfect Modals | Should Have, Could Have, Would Have
The perfect modals (should have, could have, would have) are ideal when you think about the past and wish you had made a different decision. Or when you regret an outcome. Or wonder how life might be different now if you had made a different choice.
It’s natural for us to reflect on the past and experience a mix of emotions/thoughts about the past.
When we want to express those feelings and thoughts, perfect modals are the ideal way to do so.
Perfect modals - such as would have, could have, should have - help us travel back in time.
While the simple past is used to talk about what happened in the past, perfect modals go further and allow us to express those thoughts/feelings about the past.
In this Confident English English grammar lesson today, you’ll learn how to use the perfect modals - should have, could have, would have - with structural accuracy.

Not all heroes wear capes. Anne-Marie you are amazing. I don't regret any actions that may have affected my life, because without these hiccups I wouldn't have moved to another country and become a father to my lovely 9 year boy.

Thanks so much for watching, I appreciate it! I am glad the lesson helped clarify the use of these modals.
I should have studied yesterday. I could have joined language class ,but I wasted my time. I would have learnt another language if I had extra time.
AnneMarie, I found myself wishing to relearn starting afresh. I should have known that every one, including me is already perfect. I could have visited my son more often, but I chose not to for his independence. I would have climbed the mountain, but it was raining pretty hard.
Very good. Thank you.

He Annemarie, Thanks for this brilliant and easy explansion of Perfect Modals. I've watched some videos about them, but only after your video, I definitely understand in which cases to use them in real life. Thanks a lot. You became for me like a role model, I like your manner of speaking and try to copy it. I noticed when I use your phrases people give compliments me. Ok, my examples: 1. I'm really sorry. I know, I should've done it half a year ago, but I burned out at that period of time and just didn't have energy and time for this task. I promise. I'll deal with it in the nearest time. 2. I think, she could've been confused with timetable, because she is a newcomer in the city. It is a reason why she is not here yet. I guess, we need to phone her. 3. I would have had the same opportinities as my kids have at present time.

I should’ve gone to travel often, when I was single. I could’ve chosen a different color shoes, but I thought only one color. I would’ve applied for a new job earlier, I missed it.
If we had corrected the mistake we would have absorbed into different cultures.
Should have - to express regret Could have - ability in the Past Would have - allow to express guilt or regret
I know you would definitely called me if won a lottery.🎉
the english lyric has a mistake in 2:15..... is says wood instead would, sorry for my comment, teacher
Thanks slot. Please could we say:if I had fixed my car,it shouldn't have been stopped me in the street

Thanks for the question. Can you tell me a little more about what you mean by "shouldn't have stopped me..." Do you mean the car stopped? One possibility is: If I had fixed my car, it wouldn't have stopped (unexpectedly) in the street.
@nirajthakor9748

@@SpeakconfidentenglishI think the questioner wants to ask that car caused for him to stop in the street so sarcastically saying if i had fixed my car it wouldn't have got me into the situation like in the middle of the street and something
I should have been more happy despite of students. I could have learned english but I didn't.
You talk very well, your diction is perfect i understand you, but when i hear other person i don't understand them, i coulnd't talk english never help me please.

We shouldn't have grappled with seeking a solution now, if we would sought the effect of action on that day.😂❤
