19 English Collocations with Think | A Smart Way to Boost Vocabulary & English Fluency

I know you’ve heard me use the word collocations before. But what exactly are English collocations? And how can they help you boost vocabulary and English fluency?
Here’s something to think about:
When talking about tidying up the house, why do English speakers say:
- Do the dishes
- Do the laundry
- Do some ironing
And then…
- Make the bed
Why not ‘do the bed?’
The answer: collocations.
English speakers use collocations in all conversations and forms of communication. Familiarity with collocations can help you strengthen your comprehension skills and help you build sentences in English more quickly, improving your fluency.
In this Confident English lesson, I’ll help you get started with your focus on collocations using 19 common English Collocations with ‘Think.’
This includes collocations that
- Include the word ‘think’
- Express what you think
- Indicate that one thought has led to another
- Ask for time to think
- Describe what others think
- Show that you have some doubts about what you think
After you watch, practice English collocation with my two challenges questions.

Always nice to see you, you beautiful teacher and you always come up with the nicest lessons too... Here's my example... I personally think that the discussions the world leaders have everytime when they meet up to discuss global warming and the decisions they come up with it finally, would not bring us any tangible results as far as curtailing the global warming is concerned, no less.. Have a great start to the new week and hv yourself a great day too.. Hugs.xoxoxo Gams ❤️, Srilanka

As to climate change, i am inclined to think we, human beings, are able to reclaim or moderate it, as we made it deteriorate. I dread to think how our kids or next generations live well on earth with much intense temperature in following 20 years. I hope the devotion to improve global warming would become a widespread brief and practised around the world.

Hi Anne-Marie! Could you please share what you think could be good ways to ask people about their values / their worldview and what is important to them? I wanna ask questions like this when I meet a person sometimes but don't know how to make it sound more chill and less intense. Personally - when I ask directly like this, it feels too formal to me, I am looking for a way to ask these questions casually and in more light-hearted ways if it is possible.

Hi Anne-Marie. I'm wondering if "Personally think" is redundant, isn't it? In my point of view, there is no neutrality of speech, therefore I thought if I'm saying "I think..obviously is a personal idea". I'm not sure If I'm clear enough. I hope you can solve my question. Thank you so much for your videos. 😄

Hi Barbara, I totally hear you. Indeed, 'personally think' could sound redundant. This is typically used as a way to indicate one's opinion that may be unpopular or that it's an opinion others may disagree with - it's almost like giving listeners a warning that you'll share something they may not want to hear. Imagine giving a friend advice that you know she needs but she doesn't want to hear it. You might use to let her know you're sharing your *real, honest* opinion. You're not hiding your thoughts to avoid hurting her feelings. I hope this helps with how it might be used.

Today my coworker pushed me to give him a draft of statement of indemnity. I were unable to catch his points during his long technical expression actually, so i felt i have to interrupt his saying, and said i' m of my opinion that your team ought to review if we have an obligation to do it, and if any need to limit the use of such information. 😅 But that's an imagination.

    1. You should give it some thought before you make a final decision. 2. I'm of the opinion that every person matters and every individual's act is crucial for climate change and our planet's life.

Do the laundry, do the dishes, I personally/honestly think you need to let the boss know that you made this mistake. Just in time. In my opinion, if you are kind, kindness will come in your way
