After abbey road, and the breakup (and John death) they reformed released 2 new songs as part of an anthology series. Worth looking into that too! The songs were from John Lennon demos - FREE AS A BIRD and REAL LOVE. Suggest you look at the video version. Another thing we need to get your feedback on is also to listen to the LOVE album - it’s will surprise you. You know the songs but not like this! It the Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas show. And a final point, since the Beatles stop touring in 1966 (except for a roof top concert as part of let it be), you need to check out Paul McCartney concert where he does a lot of Beatles songs including hey Jude, lady Madonna, let it be, a day in the life, and a few from abbey road.

You need to watch the many videos on KZread of Paul singing Hey Jude live. You’re right. It’s anthemic. I was lucky enough to go to a Paul McCartney gig in 2015 and it was the best night of my life. He always closes his main set with this song and it’s an experience I’d fully recommend to anyone! It’s also probably the song most people know without realising it’s a Beatle song. The Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na coda can be heard in sports stadia all round the world, especially football (soccer) and cricket. It’s long been my favourite Beatles song and it probably always will be!

So sorry to hear of your parents. Take it from me, everyone has regrets. What they should have said, what they didn't say or do. No worries! If they were able to look down on you right now, I'd say they would be very proud. You are doing such a fantastic job and making a lot people very happy with your work. Back to this compilation album, in the U.S., they managed to get a lot of their hit singles on to albums. "With the Beatles" in the U.S. was called "Meet the Beatles" and had their #1 hit "I want to hold you Hand" on it. I can't believe there are people, probably millions or people, who have never heard "Hey Jude"! Omg!!!!!!

Did you notice that John and George were singing "FRERE JACQUES" in the background on "Paper Back Writer"? "THE BLLAD OF JOHN AND YOKO" is one of my FAVORITES of theirs, I LOVE IT, it is a good little rocker and every event they mention in the song is true. I LOVE the fact that it's just Paul and John and that Paul is playing the drums.

Paul McCartney had an album with his post-Beatles band Wings, where he added embossed braille to the back, saying We Love You Baby, as a message to R&B legend Stevie Wonder. Years later, Paul recorded some songs with Stevie. On the funky song called What's That You're Doing, towards the end, Paul starts singing "We love you, yeah yeah. We love you yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah". This evokes two things. One is the end of All You Need Is Love where Paul starts singing "She loves you, yeah yeah. She loves you yeah, yeah, yeah" a Beatles' song from four years earlier. The other is the braille writing on Red Rose Speedway album. In What's That You're Doing, after the "We love you" line, Stevie starts singing "I like it. I like it." Then he sings "You know my name look up the number baby", then joins back in with the song. You can tell it is all ad-libbed.

You did not disappoint. Thanks so much. On to "Abbey Road"! A quick note; keyboardist Billy Preston played on most of the "Let It Be" album whether it be electric piano or organ (he actually also plays a little on "Abbey Road"). He plays a solo on "Get Back" and "Don't Let Me Down" and performed with The Beatles on the famous rooftop concert. Speaking of which, the song "Don't Let Me Down" was also part of the "Let It Be" sessions but for some strange reason was not included in the album. A shame really, such a good tune.

PS, don’t forget that you need to listen to several songs on Side 2 on Abbey Road as a medley. I’d recommend listening to You Never Give Me Your Money, Sun King, Mean Mr Mustard, Polythene Pam and She Came in Through the Bathroom Window as one medley. There is a short silence between the end of Window and the start of Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End so you can split them that way.

Yeah, I consider that one the "3rd" version since it's the hard rock version with the doo wop chorus, which makes it a different version of the same song. It doesn't make sense to me to consider Revolution 9 a version of Revolution. It's a separate entity.

Couldn't wait until you got to "You Know My Name" to see your reaction - being the B-side to "Let it Be", we discovered it and wore it out listening so much, what a fun song! And yes, while they never performed "Hey Jude" at a huge concert, there is a video hat's easy to find here on youtube of a studio performance where there was nice crowd that did exactly that - they came up on stage and just surrounded the Beatles singing and clapping along. I have NEVER heard that John's murder was incited by his Jesus comments. Chapman was fucking crazy, that's all there is to it.

Unfortunately the Beatles never had the chance to perform Hey Jude live but for a single time (the promotional video, and it was a “live recording in studio” no less). However, Paul McCartney has performed the song numerous times live, and yeah… anthemic is the perfect word to describe that experience. I saw him when he came to Mexico City’s Zocalo in 2012. It was surreal. I suggest you to check out the performance at London Olympic Games’s Opening Ceremony, or the Citi Field performance from 2009.

While the Beatles didn't perform "Hey Jude" in a stadium setting, they did perform it live in a TV studio in 1968 for THE ROBERT FROST SHOW, and there's a video of them performing the song with a large, diverse audience of people surrounding them. It's around on KZread. Check it out: it's well worth it. Paul has made "Hey Jude" a staple of his live concerts since 1989, and it often provides the highlight of the evening as far as audience participation. You can actually see huge stadiums of people performing the "na na na na" chorus with Paul leading them and the band momentarily pausing their instrumental backing. It's magical whenever Paul does this in concert.

Fun Fact #1: "We Can Work It Out" fills me full of nostalgia for my first love in Grade 8; Fun Fact #2 "Rain" blew my 10 year old mind... basically the beginning of psychedelic music; Fun Fact #3 because of "The Inner Light", if I ever buy a race horse, I am going to name it "Arrives Without Travelling". When you react to Abbey Road, you MUST MUST MUST listen to the medley on side 2 WITHOUT STOPPING... the medley starts with "You Never Give Me Your Money" and goes to the very end of side 2....if you stop after each "song" you will mess up the experience. I enjoy your reactions, and I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your parents. Music is one of the best sources of consolation..

Both album and single version of "Get Back" are with Billy Preston. In fact, both versions are just different mixes of the very same take with the single having some extra lyrics edited in at the end of the song. Also, the same for "Let It Be", the single and album versions are the same take with a different mix and different lead guitars. "Across the Universe" is also the same take, it was just slowed down for the 'Let It Be' album version, had the female voices removed and strings added to it. All three songs are the same recordings, just dressed differently.

Nice work :) So you know, religion wasn't a factor in John's death. The lunatic was obsessed with fame and came up with his warped plan after reading Catcher in the Rye and being encouraged by the "little people who lived in his walls" to kill John. He flew to NYC from Hawaii & stalked him outside of his apartment building. He had a chance to kill him mid-day, but instead got his autograph and had his PICTURE TAKEN with John. I'm not kidding. He waited around all day while John & Yoko were in the studio. Just before 11PM, John impulsively decided to stop home quick to say goodnight to their 5 year old son before going to dinner. His car didn't pull all the way in through a security gate for whatever reason and he got shot 5 times right inside the walkway into the building, by Central Park. The guy who led this incredible existence died senselessly in a police car (on route to the hospital) at only 40 years old.
