Anybody who says the Beatles are over rated have no idea what they're talking about. Unless you've heard EVERY song they recorded (225-250) you have no idea of what they are capable of or what their "sound" is!!! The Beatles were the first to do a backward guitar solo and the first to do many many other things!!! Every band that came after them, give them credit for their inspiration!!! Many Rockers said they decided they wanted to become Rock stars after hearing the Beatles!!!👍👍✌✌👌👌😁😁

The more you listen to the Beatles, the more you realise there is to discover. Both musically and conceptually. And yes, they had that very rare ability to be 'accessible' as you said, overwhelming the 60s pop charts with hits all over the world while at the same time being entirely original from the beginning. With their unique blend of current, retro and hitherto unknown to the mainstream musical styles, they extended the limits of what was possible in the field of popular music. Becoming more and more creatively experimental as they were given freer rein in the studio - and more time - they broke new ground with every album. A new Beatles release was a cultural event. No-one knew what to expect, you just knew it would be good. All the other '60s bands were in their wake, even the Rolling Stones hung around them in order to find out what was going on... and jump on the bandwagon... In subsequent years, almost every band that started up was inspired wholly or in part by the experience of hearing and seeing the Beatles - they really did make that much of an impression on the music scene, and on culture, especially youth culture, in general. Few of the well-known rock and popular music bands of the 70s as well as later decades would exist, had the Beatles not existed. Brian May (Queen) put it well when he said 'the Beatles opened the doors, and we all just walked through...'

I read not long ago where John Lennon stated in songwriting that he "borrowed" from others and others borrowed from him. The Beatles loved the Everly Brothers and borrowed some of their vibes, etc. The song Along Comes Mary came out in March, and John wrote I'm Only Sleeping in April. A songwriter can see how John could have borrowed from that song. It's not stealing .... it's just like something that is already out there is an influence in some way. The Beatles listened not just to other bands, but also to classical music. What I always found fascinating about the Beatles songs was the great variety of vibes. Some bands seemed to just rotate around a given vibe like a merry-go-round. One song is like a rehash of another. A song like Eleanor Rigby doesn't sound like any of their other songs. It's sort of like a mall where there are a lot of different restaurants from all over the world, and the Beatles sampled a flavor of each one. Who else does that?

They introduced the backward guitars on "Rain" that was the B - side of the single "Paperback Writer". Especially "Rain" would fit on this album. That also introduces the drummer Ringo Starr really well. He pretty much dominates the song by his drumming. Their contract was two albums and one or two separate singles per year, which tends to be forgotten nowadays. There is a hard match between which one is their best album, "Revolver" (meaning something that rotates, not a gun) or "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". It's been said that this album was fed by the so called "Swinging London" era.

To grow up in the 60’s like I did, the Beatles not only revolutionalized the soundscape of the decade and for music 50 years on, but set a standard of excellence that musicians are trying to equal to this day. When you played a Beatles song for the first time, you had no idea of what you were about to hear. Anything between a beautiful ballad to a screaming guitar might await you. Oh sorry....If you are looking for another Yes reaction try to react to "Turn of the Century,," by Yes from the 1977 album, "Going For The One." You really should just do the whole album.....with You Tube's restrictions I understand. The album is a concept album like many of Yes's albums....they usually have a theme and it runs through all their albums.....but Turn Of The Century, is one of the most beautiful songs in Prog Rock Music history and it is one of my favorite four of beautiful songs by Yes. The song is about the Famous Sculpturist, Rodin( Sculpt The "Thinker"), who looses his beautiful wife to a disease and in missing her and trying to get her image back, he sculpts her image out of Stone (Marble according to history).....and of course Jon Anderson, the lead vocalist/songwriter and writer of this song....uses this story to pertain to our lives.....and it is very moving, because it's "YES!" So, do check it out!!! I really want to see your response.
