This is my favorite Elton John song and album. To tell you the truth I'm like you, though his hits are good I've heard them too many times to go out of my way to hear them again. Perhaps I could listen to "Daniel" again, which is currently my only Elton John request.

Simply a superlative track from an exceptional but underexposed group. One of my all time favourites.

Styx were one of the few mainstream American bands to dabble into Prog and this was a great example of this! I always wished they did a lot more of this style. They are still one of my Go to’s! This whole album is absolute FIRE!

I was 15 when I bought the Debut Album Nina Hagen Band and in 1980 (when the album was already 2 years earlier released, but I never heard of it) that was a musical revelation for me. I can#T tell you how often I played that record...

Great video! Some solid picks. I hope you do more Zappa in the future. There actually is a performance of Zappa playing with Pink Floyd it is one of those fun finds. My introduction to Zappa has been life long. People would mention him to me all the time because my last name is a letter removed from Zappa. I never got the jokes back then but when I did I had to actually check him out and I got hooked. My first album was actually Joe's Garage and it was a game changer in my understanding of what music could be.

The ambition to simply play the song live is staggering. If you hear the recorded version, the production is so layered, and so thick, not to mention the way she belts out her vocals. But Björk is very much known as, “It’s as if she’s never heard anyone else try to sing before.”

Fantastic track from my favourite band…….the last three minutes of duelling lead solos are sublime and played magnificently…….Andy Powell and Ted Turner sharing lead guitars, Martin Turner on bass with Steve Upton on drums the original line up……52 years on that song never dates still fresh ……

Saw this band about a month after the album was released, but hadn't heard it yet. The venue was a 250 seat club and I was able to sit less than 10 feet from John. I was familiar with John's prior work - Miles, the Devotion record - but seeing them perform their new album which was entirely unknown to me was a shock and I and my friends were stupefied. Billy Cobham was/is a magical melding of Elvin Jones's polyrhythms and Buddy Rich's precision and he was jaw-dropping amazing. I was fortunately to see this band several more times, including 3 shows they did with Zappa's band.

Gary Thain took this band into the major league in my opinion. They have always had world class bass players ... Wetton, Bolder, Daisley... But to me Gary really did make this band as good as anyone

So, from a "bad" rehearsal back in 1970 Lee Pickens was making noise with his guitar, as he put it "English UK siren sounds" form that point they "fantasized" and put DOA together. Their first four albums are great and USA is my favorite. Actually, I think their best dark song is "Breach of Lease " with a great guitar solo from Lee Pickens on Bloodrock 3. Give it a listen. Cool review!

Indeed, Joni's music "paints pictures and tells stories", and have something profound or fascinating to say about the character(s) or story, or something learned about human nature. Her compositions and playing style encompass many flavors, songs may change key and/or change time signature mid-song, she selected specific chords and tones to convey the feelings/meanings of lyrics, and so on. With 50-some alternate guitar tunings, she was able to create a sonic palate that normal tunings couldn't provide, and her sense of timing/rhythm was impeccable. So many great albums and songs over decades of her career. Her voice changed over the years, becoming lower, and she was able to adapt her vocal delivery for yet another type of expressiveness.

I love guitar performances in general and heard many thousands of them with thousands of guitar players. Gary Moore was without a shadow of doubt the number 1: il capo di tutti capi! I've seen him performing live about 8 times and each time I felt totally blown away and privileged. His Magnum Opus: "the Messiah will come again" Montreux festival. RIP Gary!

I think most Americans like me got this album in the wake of Jailbreaks huge popularity in 1976. It was definitely a different vibe and quickly became one of my favorites. Very eclectic and rich. Its impossible to rank it in their catalog, kind of like Fleetwood Mac's incarnations. They are all great.
