Hey Wayne! It's amazing how much and the quality of music The Beatles made in the short time they were together. Just incredible!!👍⭐️😎

Appreciate your waiting to comment. Thank you. The lasting beauty of this song is found in the orchestrations. The strings, horns, and placed a just the right moments. Beautiful. A masterpiece.

Paul McCartney played piano live as he sang this. The orchestration by the late Phil Spector is great but Paul felt it was a little over the top. There's a great stripped down version on their 'Let It Be... Naked' album that's closer to Paul's original vision that's also beautiful in its simplicity.

I was going to say this. But, don't forget that in Paul's lawsuit against the other three Beatles, he wrote in there that one of his reasons for wanting out is the horrendous orchestration that Phil Spector did in that song. Paul HATED IT.

'A little over the top'? He hated it. He phoned George Martin in disgust and said, look what they've done to my song!

The version on Anthology 3 is better, I think. That version contains the vocal track used for Spector's version. The LIBN version has slightly different lyrics that IMO don't work quite as well.

Brilliant! And the Beatles weren't too bad either! 😂 You can pick pretty much anything they put out but I would say if you want one extreme to the other maybe "Girl" vs "Revolution" 🤔 Although I'm sure a hundred Beatles fans could pick a hundred other options! .... And they are all absolutely right! ❤

Search for this song but add ‘Let It Be Naked ‘ version in the search and u will hear how McCartney actually wanted the song to sound . No orchestration , which he apparently hated .

Yes your right about the song coming at the end of there career. Phil Spector did the Orchestra arrangement without Paul’s knowledge and he hated it apparently. The version he wanted is on the Let It Be Naked LP. Cheers.

Yes, Paul could see the band was close to breaking up when he wrote this. Here are a few more requests and suggestions for more Beatles, where I'll try to give you diverse types of songs and compositions: • Help! - a good early rocker • I've Just Seen A Face - almost like acoustic bluegrass, very catchy • Across The Universe - a psychedelic Lennon tune, great lyrics • Back In The USSR - a great hard-rocker • Here Comes The Sun - another Harrison tune, since you've liked his songs • The 16-minute medley that closes out Abbey Road, starting with "You Never Give Me Your Money" through to "The End" - great songwriting, the group still at the height of their powers though disbanding soon. "The End" closes with great solos from each of the 4 guys, and Paul's touching final lyric.

This was a big hit back in the day. Paul McCartney has always disliked this orchestrated version, and (as many others have said in your comments) released a non-orchestrated version on the "Let It Be... Naked" album. I have that record, and I honestly prefer the orchestrated version. By quite a bit, actually. So I think it is perfectly fine that you listened to this version of the song, as this was the hit version. Oh... and the Beatles breaking up was a HUGE deal at the time. It was major international news -- the Beatles were the top entertainment act in the world at the time, and they broke up at the absolute peak of their popularity and critical acclaim.

Abbey Road was the last Beatle album to be recorded and ironically the last song is The End. But Let It Be was the last one to be released. The project was shelved only to be completed by Phil Spector… Again, I urge you to check out Revolution #9. Thanks.

It is universally agreed that it is the absolute worst Beatles song. Revolution #9 is in "Musique concrète" style... feel free to look that up. And feel free to listen to the "song". But I'm sure you don't want to react to it.

Martin had the first [single version] of the song Let It Be, released aruond March 1970.when the Album of the same title came out arond June 1970. My gnberation heard the single first. Since then alnost NO ONE listen to the single version, which went ot #1 no problem. they all want to the better guitar solo on htat one. the song beceomes about th eproduction and the guitar solo instead of the Beatles as a smaller unit. No f-ing choir or orchestra, just one extra musician, Billy Preston on organ and possibly an electric piano, in addition to the Beatles with Paul on Grand Piano, Lennon on bass, George on lead guiutar and Ringo on drums, with Lennon, Yoko Ono and George on back up vocals. It was that idiot Lennon who was on heroin at the time, with his new wife Yoko Ono, who gave Phil Spector the tapes to monkey with , with no one's particular permission to do so. the wall of soind invades the Beatles forever on these songs. Thank God for Let It Be Naked album...

"SOILY," "BEWARE MY LOVE," "CALL ME BACK AGAIN" and the 3 song opening of the concert (they run right after each other. "VENUS & MARS"/"ROCKSHOW"/"JET." These are the LIVE VIDEOS now, not the audio from the vinyl album, but from the "ROCKSHOW" DVD. They are ALL on YOU TUBE.

Bit late on parade... Love 'em all, but a huge shout for George Martin's input and arrangements on these slower songs adding magic. Without him they wouldn't have been as huge. Reading below about Phil Spector, was Martin actually involved in this one? Keep playing music Wayne... Scot's ignoring my pleas for him to introduce some on his great channel... His catalogue is immense, so the majority of stuff he comments on, I've never heard!

@@phila3884Dear @phila3884. I'm OK with people feeling differently about things in life. It was just me, cause I love this song so much. Do you remember the moment from the movie Yesterday when Ed Sheeran conceded defeat in their little contest when the main character sang this song. And it was not even the Beatles and not the full scale version of the song. This moment was hilarious. I am not a big fan of Ed Sheeran but I respect his opinion. You are absolutely right, however I don't feel that I am in the position to give him a break, cause I'm not his superior in any way. Thanks for your feedback and take care.
