Paul was only 26 when he wrote this song & had only just turned 27 when the Beatles finished recording their last album - Abbey Road. It is mind blowing what The Beatles achieved in 7 short years.

Nobody can touch the Beatles. They are by far the greatest group ever. I always loved this song and Paul was always my fav Beatle. I was actually fortunate enough to see him in concert about 8 years ago and he put on a hell of a show.

My Father actually cooked for the Beatles and drank with them in 1964 when they stayed at the hotel he worked at in Chiristchurch NZ. My mother recalled that she received a phone call from my father telling her he'd be home late because he was drinking with The Beatles...

One of the benefits of having all four members songwriting on their own, and all 4 can sing. The songs all sound unique. No 2 Beatles songs sound similar. This is a Paul song, a year before the end of the band. (Lennon was the 1st to call it quits for good)

Paul wrote this on a hotel piano from what I recall. The Beatles music changed drastically in less than a decade. Everyone was playing catch-up. The greatest ever.

Yes it IS sung by Paul McCartney and he wrote it. The Beatles were very versatile in their songwriting, not just love songs, they also rocked, did many styles of music. You haven't even scratched the surface. They wrote over 250 songs, and they are all different.

One may say it was a part of the break up. Because Paul didn't at all approve of the orchestral and choir addition that the rest of the band had allowed Phil Spector to add. Paul intended it to be a pure band piece.

Listen to Yesterday written by Paul in 1965 and is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most covered song in history over 3000 times and many by the like of Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra and many others, then listen to the Beatles written by Joun & Paul and also sang by Paul from 1967 'Helter Skelter" don't get shocked by the difference because that was the magical greatness of the Beatles, THEY CAN DO IT ALL!

One of the most beautiful songs ever written with George Martin aranging the orchestra which too is incredibly beautiful but Paul wanted to sing it without the orchestration which there is a version of. Bee Gees ...great , Queen...great , Beatles on a totally different level, geniuses is not a good enough word. No one will ever surpass them.

The producer of the album was Phil Spector ..and I read that John Lennon wasn't happy about the orchestration and chorus included in many songs

Guys your assessment about all the Beatles writing the songs is incorrect. The majority of there songs were either written by Paul or John and sung by the two of them. George was the bests musician of the group though and a heck of a writer In his own right but Paul and John were the two leaders of the group.
