Painting With Gouache: Replicating Mary Blair's Concept Art for Disney's Alice in Wonderland

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi everyone! If you want to paint with me over Zoom, I'm teaching classes this summer with limited registration, so it will be an intimate and super fun experience! Follow this link to get all the info:
eringreenchildrenofthecraft.m...
In this video I replicate Mary Blair's groovy concept art from Disney's (1951) Alice in Wonderland. I love this composition and how it really sets the tone for the Mad Hatter's tea party, where Alice is excited, yet overwhelmed by all the action.... which is how I have felt over the past few weeks. My trip to NY was more amazing than I had hoped for, but way too short. There is SO much to see there! Overwhelmed in the best possible way, I felt like Alice, trying to take everything in. I must go back!
CORRECTION: The illustrator who did the original artwork for Lewis Carol's Alice in Wonderland was John Tenniel (1820 - 1914) NOT whatever I said his name was in the video.
Materials used:
*Acrylic gouache in white, black, red, magenta, ultramarine, cyan, and yellow
*Faber Castell black ink pens 0.1
*Illustration board
*Washi tape
*1/2 flat head watercolour brush
*#6 round watercolour brush
*Water
*Paper towel

I love you’re work and I fallow your Tutorial, but in normal acrylic colors I have one thing I have to say if you can put your finish work in the corner of the video or your reference picture it would help a lot to follow the process else. I think you are very wonderful artist

Thank you so much for the comment and suggestion! I was wondering whether I should keep the reference photo in the video the whole time... I appreciate the feedback. I'll try it out for the next video. 💫

Hi! HOLY SHIRTBALLS! You've done it again (but in the past). What did you do to your dry brush to get that "crusty" look? Rawk on!!
