For this Replicant video I decided to do an easy one. Besides the magical swoosh, this piece of concept art, made by Mary Blair for Disney's Cinderella (1950), is as basic as it gets. I mean, yes, she was a master, her colour palette and use of simple shapes to convey gesture and adorable animals is next level... but replicating her work isn't very complicated, especially this piece, which has minimal elements, just a few colours, and no major details. The star bursts were probably the most difficult thing to get right. And, honestly, the swoosh wasn't too hard. TRY IT! And let me know how it goes in the comments below.
Materials used:
*Holbien Acrylic Gouache in Primary Yellow, Primary Cyan, Ultra Marine, True Red, Primary Magenta, Primary White, and Primary Black
*Watercolour brushes / flat head and round
*Mat board
*Washi Tape
*Yogurt lids
*Water & paper towel

@@children_of_the_craft it became a bit more informal, there's all these fun anecdotes peppered in now. I don't know what the correct ratio of informative vs informal is, but I do enjoy the anecdotes and I like them being there :)

@@SimonMeskens thanks for the feedback. I think I'll eventually reach the ideal ratio. In the meantime, I'll keep saying whatever it is that comes to me in the moment. It's way more fun for me this way :)

She did! I talk about Mary working on the Three Caballeros in the mini doc I made that's on this channel. I think it was the first thing I ever posted! And I would love to paint the title card background... are you talking about the red, rolling hills with palm trees and the little house? There are three cute dudes riding donkeys.
