The look on your face at the end of the paint can mixing is priceless! I always cringe in other videos when they say something is just “surface rust”, like it still doesn’t look horrible. Nice job cleaning up that bracket to make it look probably better than new!

Other than waiting for the paint to dry, it’s a pretty quick weekend project. Good luck, Shaun.

You have (almost) inspired me to purchase a used Land Rover for "my wife" to drive (😉) in the winter, here in Michigan! We have owned 3 Jaguars, and still have 2 of them (used to own '89 XJS v12 Coupe; currently own '03 XK8 Convertible 4.2 litre V8 since 2005, and an '14 XK Coupe 5.0 litre V8 since 2017), and so I'm not too frightened by "British Vehicles" (at least not "terribly" frightened!). I have owned several different 4x4s -- previously, an '84 Ford Bronco II, a '95 Ford Explorer, and a '04 Chevy Tahoe Z71 w/ G80 rear dif.) for hunting and fishing in Northern Michigan. Currently I am using my owned-since-new '15 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel 4x4 Overland w/ Off Road Adventure II package, with Quadra-Drive II and Quadra-Lift Air Suspension, along with LOTS of Australian-sourced Bash Plates and Mopar Rock Sliders -- the thing is amazing on-road and off-road. I have always wanted a Land Rover. A close friend of mine has owned four different new Range Rovers, but was always afraid to take them off road into the the gnarly areas where we go hunting in Northern Michigan (hence, my 'Merican Beaters, for off road hunting adventures). I'd love to take a Disco Series II, or an LR3 or LR4 back into the woods where we hunt. Can't wait to see you do some "not-too-extreme" off roading in your LR3. Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see the next episode! 😃

Nice job. I saw a great tip recently re that small Clip which snapped. The guy put a small sized socket over the tip of the end of the bit which sticks through and locks. The socket squeezes the flexible bits in towards the centre pole allowing the clip to then be slid out 👍 simple but it prevents pliers snapping the ends off 😁

My 2006 LR3 has 225k miles on it and this bracket is the only thing that makes the engine look old….thanks for sharing this video. Now if I can only hunt down my vacuum leak that’s throwing codes….

Great show mate, I have a Discovery 4 2015. So when changing my iron rusty, (very heavy) Side Steps I found that the brackets had rust on them, just like your bracket. The only difference was that I always use a rust converter as my primer, this tends to eliminate any re-rust coming back via the surface of the metal. By the way the new Aluminium steps I fitted (after a little fettling) are less than half the weight of the original and will last a lot longer. Keep it coming by the way when summer finally arrives I'm flushing my heater matrix. Nice one
