How to install an Electric Vacuum Pump

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Many high performance engines do not produce enough vacuum for reliable servo operation.
This neat little pump will maintain 18-22 inches of constant vacuum whatever your manifold pressure.
Inlet and solenoid hosetails are 12mm diameter and the exhaust is 14mm diameter.

I went through two of those style switches and neither worked. Once they reached vacuum they would come off and on but wouldn't stay off. I tested them the same way you did in this video. Had everything wired and grounded properly. Junk switches. I went with one with a built in relay from Superior transmission.

I'm having this same issue right now and I figured it was likely the switch. I have another switch coming so hopefully that solves the problem

I had problems with this switch. So I just install a timer cycle relay. What u can do to is replace the relay with a delay relay. Think they run about 30$

Would u or somebody be willing to help me get one hooked up on a 2015 Ford Escape Titanium. The factory pump is actually the cam and it broke off. Either way the vehicle still runs fine but the brakes are hard.

While I realize this video is 4 years old do you know the part # to the vacuum switch? It appears these days acquiring a good switch is borderline impossible. Thank you for the video!

That takes really long to reach vacuum with just a short rubber hose attached. Hardly seems like it would be sufficient for use in a vehicle.

Hi, it seems like a lot of people have issues with their pump continually pulsing ,me included , it was great that you wrote "timer relay" in one of your answers , can you explain to me the part number or delay times , like if you hold you finger on the end of that pipe i:e no leak will the pump turn back on after a certain amount of time that is set on the delay ????? More info Please , Cheers .

Hey. I had this problem too. It turns out the pump on the exit side doesn’t hold air on my pump. I added a one way valve before pump. Works great. Hope this helps 2 years later.

As there's no connection from the ignition switch to the relay, then this pump can start up continuously if there's a slight leak in the system and flatten the battery over a period of time. Imo, I would install a dashboard mounted switch at the very least to isolate the pump when it's not needed.

Some relays are marked this way. 1=85, 2=86, 3=30. 4=87A (current flow through contacts with relay coil off) and 5=87 (current flow through contacts with relay coil on).

I have a strange problem with my 69 coronet, I'm running 2 electric fans from my EZ-EFI and a vacuum pump. When city cruising and I get up to temp I lose the fans and vac pump. when system cools after sitting everything works again. also when driving on highway everything stays working. Do you have any ideas what could be going on? I'm stumped.

The vacuum pump should have its own circuit and be contolled by a relay and pressure switch.

Hi. They are designed to cut out when maximum vacuum is achieved. Continuous running may reduce the life of the pump.
