It’s rare to come across people who are as detail-oriented as you. What a pleasure to see you working on your car! My wife says I’m OCD with cars. I thought I was the only one 😂😂😂! I have bought myself a pretty well-maintained Disco3 HSE with 200k km on the clock. But she still needs some TLC to be in perfect shape. I’m doing this project for my nice who is turning 18 next year. Still didn’t get to the interior though. Mine is the TDV6 version so there was a lot of preventive mechanical maintenance I wanted to do before tackling the cosmetics. You truly have to love this car. It’s still a nice pice of engineering considering it came out in 2005. Craftsmanship and high quality in every detail. You’re truly an inspiration so please keep it up! Loving your videos! 🏋🏻🏋🏻🏋🏻

@@wafflesquare Meant every word! ❤️❤️ I guess you’ve researched a lot about the LR3 by now. Some common problems to address are the front suspension lower arm bushings. It’s best to replace them with heavy duty ones from MEYLE. Better than OEM quality. I replaced the whole arms (upper and lower) and rods. Drives like new. Same goes for the brake discs and pads. I used BREMBO. They work like a charm and are not that expensive. I’m on your 4th video already. Can’t stop 😂

Sorry to say this after you're done Mike, but you can steam the seat foam to bring it back to original shape. Maybe this could be useful to others doing their seats. Great content! Well done!

Upholsterers use “Cushion eze “ which is a slippery material designed to allow leather to slide easy over foam Wrapping foam in plastic and applying a vacuum also works - additionally using steam can soften the leather or vinyl for fitting then it will retighten when it cools - great work though - I don’t think people realize how long this job takes

I love looking under the seats, I use to pull seats at the junkyard looking for the goods, my best find was a money purse full of vintage coins, I am restoring an Lr3 right now, thanks for the video! If this is for your daughter you might want to pull the differentials and inspect them as more than likely the carrier and pinion bearings on on their way out. I did seats on a Porsche last year and my hands were sore for a week after.

@@wafflesquare On the 2006 LR3 that just bought, it’s the three row version. The issue that I have with the driver side rear seat, is that the cable for the latch on top of the seat broke. I think that I’m going to repair it using a bicycle brake cable. Thanks again!

For the arm rest, you first have to pull off the adjusting knob and then make a much smaller hole in the new leather. Then install the new leather on the arm rest, and finally push on the adjusting knob in the end. Kind regards.

Great video which is so much easier to follow than the Haynes manual. I like your conclusions at the end. I wish I had watched the whole video, with your warning that this is a lot of work, before embarking on my leather change, as it is a full days work if you don’t have any snags. My snags included not having hog ring pliers - these are essential for reassembly, finding the seat base metal shell cracked around fasteners (£60 from LR), having difficulty removing arm rest - this needed a pry bar even when at 45 degrees and not allowing myself enough time - I’m currently halfway through having spent 6 hrs, but looking forward to finishing it this weekend- with luck.

When fitting the covers (like the head rest) it can be very difficult (tight with a lot of friction) and difficult to position it properly. If you put a plastic bag or sheet on the foam first it makes fitting a lot easier (low friction). After fitting the cover pull out the plastic.

Good tip. Upholsteres will create a bag with plastic sheeting, connect a shop vac to one end, and suck in the foam to make fitting covers easier. Sheeting gets pulled out after the covers are on.
