How to Install Factory Fit Leather Seat Cover on Lexus GX470 | LSeat.com

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If you have an old car like mine, your front seat covers are probably worn out. Here's a full install video of me doing a real leather seat cover replacement on my GX470 front driver and passenger seats. This install will pretty much work on any older Toyota Tacoma, 4Runner, FJ, Tundra, or most cars on the road. Obviously, some of the mounting locations are different, but you'll get a really good idea of how to replace the seat covers in your car. No, this is not some slip-on seat cover installation; it's a full upholstery replacement (seat covers only). Slip-on seat covers don't have the same OEM-like feel as an upholstery seat cover replacement. It's a bit tedious, but it is 100% worth it.

Hi All, I just did my 2009 GX 470. Ray's video helped a great deal. The one difference was the headrest. My original headrests (or they may have been done by the previous owner) had the foam filled inside the leather as one unit. There was no separate leather layer. The leather seams were part of the foam. So I had to rip and cut the leather off the foam. Actually, the leather may not have been real leather, it ripped easily and was a little stretchable. Once I removed the outer leather/leatherette, I decided to use a garbage bag and shop vac to shrink the size of the foam. That helped tremendously as I don't think I could have forced the lseat headrests over that large foam piece. I tore off parts of the garbage bag that stuck out and the rest is still inside the headrest. I will say that the lseat covers are not exact replicas of the OEM seat covers. Especially the pieces and parts going between the seat and back. I'm hoping the Arizona sun will get rid of the wrinkles and what seems like some excess material. The seat was the hardest part to replace. The lseat seat covers have that single long J-hook material around the front and the front part of both sides. I had to remove some pieces of the J-hook with a dremel, otherwise I couldn't get the entire single J-hook on the metal frame of the seat. In fact, the previous owner probably had the driver's seat done and it looked like a professional job. The front part of the seat cover had 5 or 6 screws going through the leather and J-hook to the metal frame. That was their solution to securing the front part of the seat. Makes total sense.

Just finished installing the lseat leather covers on my front row. Could not have done it without this video. Everything went perfect except the j-hook along the front edge of the lower cushion. The seam came loose on both covers during installation. That part of the install is brutal. Once the plastic housing is reinstalled, it looks perfect though. Can’t tell the seam is loose at all. Thanks for the video.

Great video. Followed your instructions for the most part, except I used very small zip ties instead of hog rings. Didn't even use the rods. I installed an amazon faux leather bottom cover (see link below). Zip tied a small loop to the rods in the padding and then another thru the inserts on the replacement and the white cotton looking material that is the seat warmer. Tied both together and pulled tight as well as cut the tail end of the zip tie. So far so good. Warmers work and the seat is fine (though a slight different color). Did driver side only. Thanks again though. Couldn't have done this myself without your video.

Hey just curious if you can confirm this is real (full or top grain) leather, or if it is some kind of composite (like genuine). Also, I'd also love a follow up video to see how the leather has settled in. Seems like the headrest could be an issue. Thanks for this video!!! I have the grey color and really hope it matches as well. Finally at min 41 you mention a clamp trick but I wasn't able to find what that is in the vid. If you could lmk, I'd be appreciated!

Install process should be about the same. Unclip and cut hog rings. Just don’t yank out the hog rings because you will pierce thru the cushion
