Outdoor Cooking in the Woods - Finally using my Robens Twig Stove

Well it's National Lockdown No. 3. So to break up the days of being shut in the flat I head off for a stroll around some of Britain's ancient woodland and cook up some lunch, finally putting my Twig Stove to good use. A fry-up and a cup of tea can mend the weariest of souls, that is until the tea is cut short and you have to walk 45 mins home in an unexpected downpour.

You can turn the stove upside down and grill on it as well sideways and fry on it. I own a Uberleben stove that’s made in Bonners Ferry, Idaho USA. There are many of these similar stoves. Anyway, I enjoyed the British scenery……A northern midwestern American of ancient British ancestry

Of course you can make a hole meal with a oven like this. You can burn wood a hole day with these ovens. And it is a good idea to bring dry wood from home, its so much easier to start a fire. But when the fire are going well its easy to use wood you find in the forrest. That way you can carry just some few pices of dry wood from home to start the fire.

Every time I watch a wild camping and cooking video clip Every one says cup of tea 🍵 I would love to here some one say coffee ☕️

That's funny, as a tee-total, non-coffee drinker it seemed to me that EVERY camping video I saw involved either coffee or some sort of craft beer, I wanted to bring tea to the forefront in mine to address the balance of this under-representation!

I love your humility there sir! You’re very honest. This stove is just a copy on thousands of stoves like this out in the world. For instance, i have the emberlit which is made in Utah, USA. There’s also the ubeleben made in Idaho, USA. There’s also all of the Chinese knockoffs on the Zon of the same design. Important thing is that you have fun!

just a note , never burn wood or twiggs from an elder bush as it gives off very toxic fumes ..
