Story 1: parents are hypocrites. Dude violated 3 comandments, 2 capital sins, and in a way that defies the fundamentals of the faith.... so them sticking up for him is going against their own professions.

It’s honestly sad we have to state this constant because there are actual people who defend cheating if your partner was gay, lesbian or whatever like tf? Cheating is cheating, regardless of gender and sexuality. If you get into a relationship and unsure about your sexuality, then I’m sorry but that’s on you

Story 2: this was SO MUCH COMMON in the gay/lesbian community during 1980s and 1990s! Gay men would marry women and then divorce after having kids so they could raise the children with their same sex SOs. Some would be civilized and be clear to the women to have an agreement of co-parenting, others would specifically choose women of lower income to then pay good lawyers to have sole custody with visitations. Lesbians would simply have a one night stand and then raise the kid with her wives.

My mom actually had a run in with a gay guy who asked her to marry him as a cover for him. He was upfront about it, and told her she could sleep with any guy she wanted. But obviously she didn't go for that. Nice guy according to my mom, and wonders how he's doing nowadays. I also had a lesbian lady I worked with awhile ago who has a son. She had him with a boyfriend, but he unfortunately died in some work accident though when she was still pregnant with her son. Now she recently became single from her long-term relationship from her girlfriend. I don't know why I thought they were cool together 🤷.

Story 2: I am absolutely going with nta here. Was it wrong for OP to say the truth behind the divorce since it was a personal matter? Probably a bit. But since OP was the one who was being accused as the person solely responsible for the divorce, even when it wasn’t her fault, she needed to set the record straight. Because her exmil was accusing her of something that the ex husband lied to his mother about. So she deserved to know that the real reason behind the divorce was because OP didn’t deserve to be yelled at for something she didn’t do or say. And the ex husband was the biggest ah here. Because not only was he cheating on OP even before they got married, intending on using her just to get kids, but also he decided to tell a lie to his family about the reason behind the divorce and made it seem like OP was the problem because he didn’t want his very religious family to know what the divorce was really about. He could have just made up a lie like “they fell out of love” or something like that where it would seem like the divorce was mutually agreed on. But instead out of fear for his family’s judgment towards him, and possible hatred towards OP for finding out that he was only with her because he thought that she could give him children, decided to lie about everything and painted him as the victim and OP as the villain. He deserves whatever he got afterwards and hopefully OP will find someone who genuinely loved her and won’t use her for children.

It may not have been the family’s business, but they needed to know before they try to push him on some other poor girl. I’d say he reap what he sew and can whine and squeal all he wants cause he ruined his own life. His mom is a massive arsyhole for saying you need to be more beautiful in order to keep your husband around more and cheating is perfectly fine if the guy does it.

As a queer person I normally find outing someone to be an extremely disgusting act, but story 2 might one of the only exceptions to this. So instead of cutting off the family that will never accept him and his sexuality, he instead decided to string along a woman to act as his unknowing cover wife/surrogate while he spends time with his bf. Screw him

Story 2: OP’s ex was in the wrong for using OP as a beard without her knowledge. OP’s ex deserved to be outed as a cheating POS and all the consequences that followed from that reveal. OP also owes the ex nothing as he lied to her and roped her into a fraudulent marriage and was cheating on her the whole time. He has zero right to complain that the consequences of his actions are coming back to haunt him. The ex mil is a monster and hopefully develops a conscience.

Outting someone is dangerous, but the ex was literally putting himself in that situation. It would be different if he came out to her after the marriage and wanted to grow as a person but he literally just wanted to look like the good Mormon boy to his family while also being with his lover. And poor OP was just supposed to take the abuse from family? They were telling her it was her fault for him cheating which was already fucked up but was she just supposed to grin and take all that abuse while he was seen as perfect? If the ex didn't want to be found out he should have just not married her in the first place.

Story 2: Cheating is still cheating, regardless of sexuality and gender. Frankly, I could care less about OP’s ex having a unsupportive family because if he truly valued himself, then cut all contact with them. He literally doesn’t need to be with them if they’re gonna treat him as an outcast for being gay but hey, that’s on him if he wants to stay in that POS family. While I understand and sympathize with him on some level (Having unsupportive families but mine isn’t crazy religious), it doesn’t justify nor excuse his actions. It’s embarrassing this has to be stated because there’s actually some people who defend others’ actions if they’re gay, lesbian or whatever. OP shouldn’t feel bad for exposing him, he was spreading lies about her as if it was nothing
