George, thank you so much for talking about the treatment of Saka on the pitch and in the media. as someone with close heritage to him, its so obvious what were seeing and nobody wants to call it out. Well done for having the courage mate. As Arsenal supporters we know what it means for players to get hurt because of people not doing their jobs or pushing a particular narrative "for some reason", and it always ends up in damage that is never acknowledged. I can only hope that B wont end up the same way. Today you showed yourself to be a man off courage, principle and honesty who isn't controlled by unconscious bias and I, for one, am glad there are still people like you left in the world. George,there is bias against Saka but it's not for those reasons. It's because he is an Arsenal player, that's all. There IS an agenda from the media against Arsenal and their players. Just look at the banter Mikel gets, the 'bottlers' tag, the celebration police. The list is endless. If Saka played for City or United he'd be the golden boy

Just look at players who come in, see how they were treated before being an Arsenal player and it’s evident. Kai got flack for pushing the Porto manager after he got in his way, and when KDB pushed Arteta it’s all Mikel got out of his zone.

Thank you George for finally bringing the Saka conversation to the light. It's ridiculous. I heard Clive on the arsevision say something similar and I think we need to have some transparent conversations at the end of the season. 😤

Big up George for using your voice to talk the truth about Saka. It's obvious but you're one of the first to address it directly. Well done, it took bravery and I respect you x1000 more for saying it.

Regarding Saka, I think it's simply an aesthetic thing for people outside of Arsenal. Foden and Palmer have this style of play that looks amazing on the eye to the casual observer. All these people need to see is 4-5 moments of crazy brilliance combined with half decent G/A numbers and thats confirmation enough for them. I think bringing race into this is getting into conspiracy theory territory worthy of the type of mocking Matt Le Tissier receives.

I think the Saka and Rodri ommission is alot simpler than most people are thinking. Its a simple quota issue. It just seems like the people behind the list just dont want to give any single team more than 2 slots. Idk why, maybe because otherwise the list would be boring; maybe they want to acknowledge outstanding players outside of the 2 teams chasing the league title; maybe otherwise, the list would be entirely Arsenal and Man C players. As for why Saka wasnt picked ahead of Odegaard and Rice. The way I'm looking at it is: which players in a team has been elevating the entire team (not just themselves) the most this season? Coz from that context, I can see the reasoning behind Palmer, Van Djik, Ollie, Rice. Odegaard has been instrumental in our attack and defense this season, id argue more so than Saka (though I'd expect some argument about this). Foden was one of the main reasons Man C kept them winning in clutch moments when they didnt have Haaland and De Bruyne. So its not a question about Saka vs Palmer in terms of numbers. Its possible that Saka has better numbers because he's in a team that platforms him better whereas Palmer succeeds in spite of his team. Rather, if we view it under the lens of "oh, they wont pick more than 2 players per team", then yeah the list make more sense. Is this stupid? kinda yeah. But we're talking about it ALOT, so there's that. And whats the alternative? 4 Arsenal players, 3 Man City players, and Palmer? If the list is meant to be an acknowledgement of outstanding players in grand scheme of this season, imagine how weird it'll be if we dont acknowledge that Liverpool and Aston Villa did much better than anyone thought, and the big reasons why are Van Djik & Ollie, etc. The Haaland admission is a weird blemish though. But i assume its because they felt they cant omit the likely golden boot winner from the list.

The thing about winning the prem is that is has been 20 years and we still speak like we won it 2 seasons ago we speak like a top 20 but no top team goes 20 years trophyless

I’m not gonna say I’m not one of those fans who thinks we don’t have much chance of winning the league, but equally I am proud of this Arsenal team. The second we got the result at Old Trafford I was beaming with pride, knowing we’ve been the underdog in this title race for the whole season even when we’ve had our destiny in our own hands. We’ve pushed City right to the wire in spite of that. It’s bizarre that anyone can look at Arteta or this team and see them as failures. Come on you Gunners! ❤

The thing with younger fans is when we were bad other teams won titles but now when others are bad they are not able to totally rub it off on rival fans. Golden generations can vaporise in no time so fans want something tangible to cling on into. Idt anyone with brain actually doubt Arteta as a manager. Every Big 5 team since we won Invincible have won at least one PL and UCL.

That was 97-98. Beat Man U 0-1 away and then smashed Everyon at home for the title. Adams scoring 2 one of which was a lung busting worldy from the edge of the box

Absolutely disgraceful that Saka has been left out of the POTY nominations. The way that he has performed is just one reason why he should have been a shoe-in, but the way that he carries himself, the way that he puts up with the relentless physical abuse from scumbags who would rather try to break him than beat him and the way that he never EVER shows anything but the class and courage to keep getting up and going again are, for me, the actual reasons that he should win it. I honestly believe that it is time to start taking into account the "who" and not just the statistical "what" if we are to improve the standing of the game itself.

We can all keep being delusional. The fact is that United as crap as they’ve been all season were able to play a highline with Johnny Evans and Casemiro! For over 60minutes!!! There’s no excuse for this. And why doesn’t this manager use his subs? All Arsenal players are fit , a full bench . Yet it took Saka to get injured before Jesus could play?

Excuse for winning a match ? It is what it is. Arteta said they went into a protective mode after scoring... we have a terrible record at OT, but they backed themselves defensively more than offensively and we came away with 3pts. Seriously, what is so delusional ? Its all about results right now. The performance comes second at this stage and is more important for the 30 odd games prior, when we want sustainable football, a solid system and performance over the course of a season. The remaining 4-5 games in a run in, is all about results. Not sure of your age or memory - tbf, it is a long time since we've been a title race... but I do remember the 5 titles I've seen us win, although I was very young for the first one, like 12! But the others I remember well. Honestly, its all about results at this stage and comfortable wins and good performances are a bonus.

I think George is not able to take a step back in his apologia for Saka. Saka has repeatedly dropped stinkers this year. Almost every time he does so, he gets the phantom limp. Other wingers and players are also double marked. He is not special in that regard, Foden gets kicked and double marked as much does Saka. However, what I think pisses off fans is that Saka's phantom limp is used to disguise subpar performances. Also in terms of the player of the season, I also don't agree with George, Saka has scored a lot of penalties like Palmer which to many fans diminishes his goal involvements. So I think that the conclusion is that he isn't seen as worthy of being nominated, or being under more criticism because he is black is really pushing the boundaries of credulity here. That thinking is not helpful and is not supported by evidence, otherwise why is Ollie Watkins up there? He's also black, so why was he nominated and not Saka ? George should know that that is irrelevant to who is nominated for player of the season. Ollie Watkins is up there because he has been getting lots of goals (approximately 19? around the time of this message) and has been outstanding in lifting Villa up to UCL spot contention. I really do think the pod and especially George has dropped the ball on this one, with the easy, lazy and ill considered takes.

there's always someone how feels the need to pipe up with some status quo nonsense to excuse unacceptable behaviour. Are you honestly saying that simply because Ollie Watkins also has dark skin, that means Saka cant be discriminated against because of the colour of his skin?? In the colony of Rwanda, the colonial authority kept the population off balance by preferentially discriminating against the Hotu population because they had DARKER skin. It was that historical treatment that was the origin sentiment of the genocide in the 90's. The same thing was done all over africa and America with slavery as a common tactic of control. I, myself, have been discriminated against at a previous employer, so much so that when I left, the manager apologised for not acting. There were other dark skinned people there but obviously something happened to me because I got a very late and pointless apology. You obviously have very little experience of this...trying to shutdown conversation on something when you dont understand the dynamics, now thats lazy. George has done nothing wrong here and is only saying what for millions of people around world is obvious.

Forden don't play as a winger and don't get double or trippled marked. The guy has a open cut on his leg after receiving studs in the previous game, he aggrevated that, clearly he is not one of your favourite players, but stop with the foden and palmer comparison, neither of those two players actually plays as wingers despite been shown on formation as potentially starting there. Arsenal as a team didn't progress the ball, so all our forwards looked horrible. Go on look at saka overall stats. Not just goals and assists, and you will see the player contribution to Arsenal overall....

It's my view that saka was not selected because the media in this country want to elevate foden and palmer, while removing or suppressing saka from than conversation. The same also goes for Rodri, by leaving him out it elevates Rice further. Unfortunately, we live in a world where there are conscious and unconscious biases.

Saka doesn’t really do himself any favors - I think there are more clever players re: avoiding contact (ie, I think he can avoid SOME of the contact he receives). But, it is glaringly obvious that he is abused on the pitch (I don’t mean to hyperbolize, but that is what it looks like). The ‘phantom limp’ is really a non-factor in my thinking. He could run off the field skipping and I’d feel that there’s no way he can’t be hurt. As for the race thing, it was mentioned above: another candidate being black (or, having dark skin) doesn’t negate treatment towards another. That take is actually foolish (respectfully, of course) and lazy. I don’t believe that the non-selection is completely race based, though (but, overall treatment I’m sure it’s a bigger factor. Especially closer to the penalty miss). In general, I think that it is hard to appreciate some of Arsenal’s players and their roles unless they are explicitly / obviously contributing. People don’t really ‘know ball’; and knowing ball doesn’t really sell imo.
