She was engaged to Seether frontman Shaun Morgan at the time. Apparently his substance use issues led to a breakup. Sad & ironic that the song is called Broken. But it is an amazing ballad, and her vocals are on full display.

I got to see Evanescence on their very first tour. They made a stop with a rock festival here in Tulsa. And a good time was had by all.

Yes, Amy Lee writes all the songs... Evanescence started w/ guitarist Ben Moody writing the music, but he quit the band around 2004 after the 'Fallen' album... Guitarist Terry Balsamo co-wrote the music for the next 2 Evanescence records. The new album 'The bitter truth' is credited to Lee and the other members collectively collaborating... Most female-fronted rock/metal bands write their own music & lyrics - Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Epica, Guano Apes, Vixen, etc... Heart went thru a period between 1984 and 1990 when they had outside songwriters deliver songs for their records, but they wrote their own material before and after that.

Amy is AMAZING in concert! She literally puts her entire body and voice into her performances. She's an absolute BADASS!!!

Something interesting is the lyrics tie-in with "Bring Me To Life". In that video she is dreaming when she starts to fall and he grabs her hand to save her. In this video she says "Don't want your hand this time, I'll save myself. Maybe I'll wake up for once."

Amy Lee has one of the most haunting and beautiful voices EVER to grace the stage. I said this the other day but I bet Amy Lee and Floor Jansen would be an amazing duo.

My Immortal, Call Me When Your Sober, Lithium, My Heart Is Broken are all great songs by Evanescence.

She has an amazing voice. I enjoy most if not all of her music.

Amy Lee was dating another rock musician that was struggling with a really bad drug addiction. Amy was by his side to help him get sober and in doing so she was losing herself and who she was. Eventually she had to save herself and end the relationship. She also wrote 'call me when your sober' right after she ended the relationship. Singer songwriters are so awesome because they are singing about events that really occurred in their life and not just purchasing songs from writers. I just about listen to only singer/songwriters exclusively because they have that extra depth in their singing to no one else can recreate. Huge Evanescence fan@

@@scottNNJ If you're hooked on Halestorm now, then you MUST put one of their concerts on your bucket list. I've seen them twice, they are an OUTSTANDING live band. No backing tracks, no prerecorded anything. What you hear comes only from the 4 of them right then and right there.

I just went to see Evanescence in The O2 in London 2 days ago; she... was... amazing! I was up near the front and let me tell you, when you feel, see and hear Amy Lee belting this out only 30 feet in front of you, you know you've lived. You just know. I cried when she sang My Immortal, and I lost it when she sang this. I was hollerin' like a bitch! They're still going around, it's worth keeping an eye out for their tour dates.

I've only known the few Evanescence songs that got popular. First time I've heard/seen this. Thank you for doing it. Awesome. She is one sexy powerful performer.

I had the absolute pleasure to see Evanescence in concert when they toured with Lindsey Stirling (who you need to react to soon!). It was an unique tour as they played stripped down with an orchestra backing them. It was so amazing and special. They are a band that I will 100% see every time they tour (except this last time with Halestorm b/c of the pandemic). Another good Evanescence song to react to is "Call Me When You're Sober"

When I first saw them in concert in '03 I was amazed by the clarity of the sound mix as everything was crystal-clear and powerful. They rock hard but you could clearly hear Amy's amazing vocals along with her piano work....they weren't buried in the mix. At one point in the show there was a quiet slow section of a song which highlighted her vocals and I remember being blown away and blurting out "wow" and everyone around me turned around and smiled because they were feeling the same way. Amy's just a generational talent.

You really, really need to do “Break In” with Halestorm featuring Amy Lee. It’s a beautiful duet with Lzzy Hale & Amy Lee- both powerful women singers who just kill it in the video- which was shot in one take, I might add. 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Right aftet Daredevil came, on their first tour, they played lakeside at the Phoenix Zoo. I ran foodservice so I had to attend the concert but I had never heard of them. Wasnt enthused. Wow, she blew the crowd away! Ive been in love ever since.

You have to do Good Enough by Evanescence. Totally different feel than this one but similarly emotional. And you will love the piano, the official video is pretty good too.

The "new" album (last year) 'The bitter truth' is like going back to the sound of the 'Fallen' era, but with all the benefits of greater experience, craft and technology, to produce an awesome result - this is the album I'd been waiting for.

Evanescence is a key part of my life soundtrack -- I remember driving to the coast on a windy highway after graduating, with this blasting, and singing along, and just _feeling_ every beat, bass line, and soaring note of Fallen. I'm a fan of their later stuff too, and even think some of it was artistically and objectively better, but that first album will always be iconic and an emotional touchstone for me. And yeah, they're good in concert too, although I think they do better with shorter sets, so their better concerts were always multi-performer bills. Anyway, glad you enjoyed, and congrats on hitting 200k!!

I have seen them twice. Once in Sydney at the Opera House where they also playing with an orchestra. And again in Austin when I was visiting my friends. So awesome.

I just wanted to point out to Rob Squad Reactions, when listening with my headphones the music is in stereo every time so when I react to it I react with you many times the same way when I first listen to it. That's so awesome!!

Another Metal/Symphonic band with a female lead (Sharon den Adel) is Within Temptations. Some of their earlier songs are my favorites (Memories, Angels, and Stand My Ground). She's got a wicked voice too!

Back in the 90s there was a very special lady named Shirley Manson who fronted the band Garbage. I'd definitely recommend her for your next Female Friday! They had a string of hits: "Only Happy When it Rains," "Stupid Girl," "Push It" and "I Would Die for You" 😊 Garbage really was the Evanescence of the 90s, imo.

I was lucky enough to see them at Music Midtown Atlanta around 2004 when their only hit was Bring Me to Life from the Daredevil movie. I got to hear all these great songs for the very first time. She definitely put on a great concert and was sweating up a storm.

Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale have a song together. “Break In.” The Standing studio version is the best one. (They also have a social distancing version) Definitely revisit Halestorm. Lzzy is another level of vocals. “I Am The Fire”, “Familiar Taste Of Poison”, “Love Bites”, “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You.” (Heart cover) I also recommend checking out We Are The Fallen. It’s basically Evanescence with singer Carly Smithson. I think they are definitely underrated. Start with “Bury Me Alive.”

Call Me When You're Sober is the one I go back to again and again. The song is amazing and the vampire vibe in the video is great!
