    Hey bro, beautiful vessel. I love my 120 pdl. Was going to get the sportsman, but I love having the PDL Drive. Knowing I could have that amazing kayak after a year of research, and saving, and it'll be my 1st and last kayak. I see no reason to upgrade. With the 120, you have storage, a well designed deck and hull. I added my Bixby j2 to my rudder, and purchased a 2nd bixpy battery. So now I have 3 ways to get home, paddle, pdl, and motor. I run all my electric off of my DIY 30 Cal ammo box from harbor freight, with a Cabela's 12V battery, USB/VM/And 12V plug for additional charg and run options. The spare bixpy battery is buckled behind my seat, another DIY Mod i found on you- tube. I fish large lakes and resevoirs, miles long and wide. Also tournaments. I can cover a whole lake, and cruise back to the ramp at approx 5 mph. Odd town I think is just in a different league, because it feels more like a one man boat. And me at 5ft 7 149 lbs, I can walk bow to stern and cast, site fish, get into any of my storage, or change my wires to a spare battery. And I have had the wind kick up in the middle of a lake with 2 ti 3ft rollers, and have always felt safe. And I'm fresh off the bank. This summer was my 1st season. Good luck bro.👍 🙏 🎣

    Thanks for doing this review. I have the Predator 13 paddle kayak and was thinking of upgrading to the Predaror PDL, but it seems like the Topwater 120 is more stable, and cheaper. I fish up north of bodega a lot and was worried the 120 might not be able to handle ocean fishing but it looks like it can do that just fine.

    Hopefully you get this comment. I noticed you have, what it looks like is a Garmin Striker 4, on your 120 PDL. If so where did you place the transducer? I know there is a mounting plate on the bottom. I've seen a couple videos where they had to modify either the mounting plate or the transducer bracket. To get it to fit. Thanks for your time.

  • @MooMooOutdoors

    @MooMooOutdoors

    4 жыл бұрын

    120 pdl mounting plate really only works with humminbirds since they are same company and with some transducers with modification. Striker 4 transducer is too thick to fit. I put my transducer inside the rectangular hatch behind the seat using duct seal.

    Great review. Those were some big swells, which makes for a good test for it. Did the drive feel more smooth after using it more? The one I demoed did not feel that smooth. I can definitely feel the difference with my Pro Angler 360 versus my Outback. It requires way more effort to pedal, but you get used to it after a while. The mirage drive 360 is amazing. You should make him take a big whiff of Durian and then eat it. I can only eat Balut after a couple of beers. I tried sober, but couldn't do it 😆

    Most people don't realize it's not the swell it's the seconds that count if you got a 20 foot swell with a 30 second it doesn't matter because you'll never even notice them but if you have a 3 foot with 2 seconds you're getting hit every 2 seconds with a 3 foot wave anybody listening to a Weather Channel if you hear a 6 ft 3second that's a 6 ft wave hitting you every 3 seconds
