Moo moo It was a great event. My first time on ARW halibut tournament. My 28” didn’t place me. Man!!!! I so wanted to have the bragging rights. 😢

Taking a 7 gill, just not cool! species is catagorised as venerable with a decreasing population. Yes you can legally take one per day but that doesn't mean you should. Let them swim! Great video MooMoo, pity about the wind.

Please explain why you're harvesting such teeny tiny halibut. Those are juveniles and should be released so they can grow to proper size....

Minimum legal size is 22 inches and smallest one was over 24 inches.

@@MooMooOutdoors There's a big difference between legal minimum and appropriate take. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. As honorable sportsmen we have a moral obligation to protect our fisheries and not just take what some legislation says is "ok"

@PB-jk8bl yes common sense should always prevail, just because the rule allows it, doesnt mean you should do it BUT keeping smaller legal butts is actually better, because: 1. the big ones are the breeders, so you actually have a lower impact on the fishery by keeping a 22” vs a 36” 2. mercury concentrations are very high on big old halibut, especially in SF bay. So eating smaller butts is healthier. 3. smaller ones are better eating. So YOU have a moral obligation to stop keeping BIG BUTTS lol

@@the_ling_council I live in SE Alaska and depending time of year, the minimum is 36" or 40" and anything 80" and above(breeders) are released to propagate the species. And why on earth would anyone consume fish from the highly contaminated SF Bay??
