This video and Ry the Car Guy's video are the ones I used to get the advice on changing those out. Ry tended to downplay some of the difficulty of removing and installing new springs. "Boy! Am I glad that's over!"was a spot-on comment!
A good tip is to loosen the leaf spring brackets first before raising the truck. That way the leaf spring is under load and doesn't flex when you try to loosen the bolts.
Just installed an OME Dakar leaf pack as well as OME Coil Spring and NitroCharger shocks all the way around my 2005 Xterra Off Road. Heavily applied recommended grease to all sides of bushings. Lifted about 1 3/4”. Improved ride. Smoother. Stronger. Softer too. How can this be? No squeaks at all! Well worth the $1,175.00 price tag. I installed myself with OME U bolts and rear anti sway bar relocation kit. No need for shims. No vibration or rattle. This is how the Xterra should have come out of the factory. Great product. 👍
I'm waiting to install my full front and rear OME HD kit on my 15 Xterra. This video is very helpful, thank you!
This is a good video that explains this whole upgrade perfectly. Thanks! Now I know what to do and how to do it.
EXCELLENT video Jeremy! Very well explained, decent quality video, and decent quality sound. Many other videos out there are either geared up for the experienced do it yourselfers or simply horribly produced. I'm a newbie, I'm handy, and a keener on doing things myself, and after this watching (book marked and saved) I feel I am ready to attack my leaf springs this summer!
This is the best video DIY to replace the rear leaf spring on X. Thank you so much, Jeremy.
Really helpful video thank you.
Great video very comprehensive and easy to understand
Great video! Camera and audio were both great! Thank you!
Best one out there, thank you for listing the parts, makes it easy in this sea of confusion.
Great video. Look forward to more vids of your xterra.
Great Video, straight forward. Thanks!
Hey Jeremy! GREAT video!! I just installed the same OME Dakar springs and new OME shocks on my '06 X, and I can't thank you enough for this great video "how-to". I must have watched it about 20 times to prepare myself. BTW, I recommend to anyone doing this job to remove the rear plastic fender pieces. It's quite simple and makes getting at the shackle hardware much easier. And, depending on your X's mileage, I recommend going to Nissan and ordering all new, shackles, bolts and nuts for the springs and shock mounts. My truck has about 180K miles and these springs and shocks make a huge difference! Thanks again!!
Dont grease the outside of the bushing. Only the face and the inside. Greasing the outside of the bushing will make a grinding paste over time and wear out your bushings faster. You grease the inside of the bushing, because thats where you want the rotation to happen.
A huge thank you for creating this video. I just completed this task and absolutely wouldn't have been able to without your help. I started at 3pm yesterday and finished at 2:50 am. I tackled this job solo but you were there with me the whole way. Thank you and God Bless!
Good work JB
Nice. Little tip, loosen the shackle nuts before you remove the u-bolts. Makes it easier
Really great and useful video man. Please give us an update on how they feel. My Xterra rear is sagging and I am likely to go the OME route myself.
