The field of Sports Nutrition is on the grow. College and professional teams are not only seeking advice from nutritionists for their teams, but they're hiring full-time dietitians to direct programs that apply the science of nutrition to enhance their athletes' performances.
I made another trip to The Ohio State University to get first hand information from OSU's expert on dietetics for football performance, Sean McMickle. We talked extensively on the ever-evolving program at one of the nation's most highly revered football programs. McMickle, is a key figure as a performance team member established by Head Football Coach Urban Meyer and Asst' A.D. for Football Sports Performance Director Mickey Marotti.

ground oats contain a lot of fiber and slows the digestion down which isnt the point of the shake, like he said the reason they dont add chia seeds etc because fiber goes against what the smoothie is for , quick absorption around the clock and boost calories around meals.

I make a shake similar to this and instead of using powder I eat 8oz of Greek yogurt on the side. One cup of Greek yogurt has roughly the same amount of protein as 1 scoop of powder. The one cup of yogurt will probably have more calories than one scoop of powder which is a plus. And I think it’ll have more carbs too.

Just a tip to the 14 people watching this video. You never want to mix your protein in with the smoothie. You individually put the protein in afterwards because then you get much less residue from the shaker cup then you would from inside the blender. And since the protein cost the most money need to be the most efficient with it

Let's assume that the registered dietitian in charge of fueling one of college football's elite football programs knows how to be efficient with the proteins
