We had one in the wild that used to waddle up to our porch that looked like Mo. We called him The Godfather because he never came alone, he always had a crew with him like the mafia. This is the second time I've seen raccoons this big

He was wild and he was that big? Wow! He either had a secret restaurant or maybe something wrong with his thyroid 🤷♀️ Eating their natural diet and roaming their natural environment usually keeps them pretty fit. Do you not see the 'crew' anymore?

Raccoons are beautiful. ❤
It's so tempting to want to have a 'wild' pet. Unfortunately, it's often not the best situation for the animals or the person keeping them. Of course there are exceptions but those exceptions generally include a wildlife professional. Thanks so much for showing that these 2 need more than food to live a full life.😍

If I want the friendship of a wild creature I'm not just gunna stick it in a cage, everything in my area loves me from the crows to the bats and the skunks and opossums because I respected them as individuals not by trying to make them pets (I'm not counting the geese they are migratory and they are also just giant assholes)

She wasn't ever planning on releasing them into the wild. She said that at the beginning. She stated being that they were raised as pets, they weren't eligible for release. She only changed her mind about keeping in her own sanctuary after their rehab stint (once the weight-loss and all of that was over).

You got this! It's not just to lose weight, but it's also so you can live a long, healthy, independent life.
I can’t wait to see their progress. Thank you for taking them in.❤️❤️
We definitely need an update on theses two!
truly loving your pet means thinking long-term for them, because they can’t do it themselves, I have a labrador, she always wants snacks and is so good at looking cute that it can be hard to say no to her, but I do, because I know that if she got every snack she wanted, she wouldn’t be able to play around with other dogs anymore, which is one of her favourite things to do
My word, these are the "Biggest" Raccons" I have ever seen. Happy to see you got them. Even more happy to hear they are loosing that "Excess Weight" that is there. You rock as these two friends of them.
What a fantastic person Kim is. I know Mo and Savvy will feel a whole lot better after she helps them get back to fighting weight. :P
I'm so glad you were able to give them a place they could run around and get to a place where they can climb again!
I love their grubby hands and waddle waddle body ❤❤❤
My first thought, "They were someone's pets." That is sad - he wanted to climb but couldn't. 💔 She's a life coach. 😸😸👍👍👍
Wow! They are little "butterballs"! 😳🦝😕 Hopefully, they will get healthy at the sanctuary. 👍😊👏 They are so cute!
Thank you for saving these precious souls. I know from firsthand experience how sweet and intelligent raccoons are. There were raccoons that we saw in my parents yard and they were so cute that we would give them strawberries which they loved. Then after some time the mother brought her babies to see us. She came more cautiously into the yard and we noticed bright little eyes behind her. We gave her the strawberries through the gate to the back door and she took them and took them to her babies who emerged to eat. Soon the babies were up at our Gate with anticipation In their eyes for the fruit. It was very touching to make friends with a wild animal and to have her trust us with her babies❤ we put bowls of water out for them and they would always wash their food with their cute little human like hands. Now years later I have a little skunk that comes by at night and he’s so cute he waddles. I haven’t fed him at all I’ve just observed him and how cute he is. My love for animals is open ended and I end up loving all of them. The way they live has integrity because their intentions are very transparent. It’s easy to get along with them. Course I’m not talking about tigers or giant bears. I’m talking about little mammals and little birds.

So precious ❤ I have wild raccoons that come eat my bird seed every night so I put some grapes and bananas out there for them and they stopped taking the birds food lol 😊
My goodness they are huge... Please give updates... Good luck little ones... Wow they will feel so much better when they lose that extra weight... Well done young lady well done.
G'd bless this woman, her team and these beautiful animals 🙏🏼❤️☀️.
What awesome fluffballs! I had a racoon when I was a kid, mostly he free-roamed in my bedroom. He was pretty chill as a kit, but once he was full-grown he was a mischievous terror and I had to give him up to someone who had more experience with wild animals. Still, it was quite an experience and I did save his life, so it was all worth it.
I love how they initially rejected the fruit/healthy food at first! That's exactly how I feel when I have to go on a diet! LOL
Wow, they are big, but so precious.
Raccoons already have a short lifespan.... So being that big has to be even worse for them..... But the efforts she put in into giving them a beautiful home is just awesome..... I love raccoons, used to have multiple families of them that I interacted with when I lived in Mountain House, California...... But only ever on their terms, and they were never pets.... These two are the cleanest ones, and I don't mean as in they are dirty animals, I mean in the sense of they aren't wet etc from doing what they are needed for, I've ever seen. But I'm not surprised since they were kept as pets....
Thank you. God bless
Oh god I feel so bad for them but damn they're adorable chunky babies 😭

First time I ever heard a raccoon snore. This was the best. Thank you for saving these guys. With love 🤩
Savvy and Mo look like glorified baggers initially. Their home is so pretty
Oh, this is awful - so glad you are moving them in the right direction. I raised two baby raccoons for four months - found them in the middle of the road... We released them two years ago and I still see them from time to time on my trail cam. They are about a third of this size!!! They have had interactions in the wild with foxes and a bobcat and came out of it OK so they are tough guys. They had SO MUCH ENERGY I can't believe they would ever be that heavy. We taught them to find food, to climb, to fish, and everything else we could think of to make them self sufficient.

One thing I found with mine was that any new food was immediately rejected. The next day, they would try it. So just because he doesn't want kiwi today doesn't mean he won't eat it later... I think it just takes a bit for them to understand what is 'food'. Especially if they are used to junk!
i follow her on tik tok so it's cool to see her here on the dodo too :D ^_^
They are so funny. I love watching raccoons! Thank you for making them part of your pack!

I believe doing this to animals is a form of abuse, no matter when it’s a “but love them so much” situation. Had you not helped them, their lives would have been severely shortened and miserable. In addition to the obvious heart issues, obese animals often develop severe arthritis in their joints.. I can’t imagine that amount of obesity came from a healthy diet either. Thank you for helping them.
My uncle had to pet raccoons they are an amazing animal and their feet feel just like leather I remember feeding them and they were always so gentle and kind
