I do understand some animals are dying from terminal illness and putting them down would end their physical pain but that's just different case all together. When I heard her said he was going to get put down in like what!???

To think that he was almost killed due to a person's ignorance and laziness. Too many people would rather euthanize than put in the work to give an animal the life he/she deserves. What an amazing lady and what an incredible dog, so inspiring!

Not the same but excess weight is a problem for just about all people or animals. My personal story is off loosing only 10 kilos (so far). That alone relieved my joint issues considerably. And no, I'm not a fan of bodyshaming, but nor am I a fan of pretending excess weight is "just be happy with the way you are".

This is definitely a good example of not giving up. Both the dog and human did not give up on each other. Began with baby steps until the dog could run. Just an amazing story and that woman is a hero!

You know what, this dog deserves a trophy. My dog blue who passed around a year ago, weight atleast 90-100 pounds. After that point, we found out he had diabetes and could not overcome it. Because of this, he passed away, leaving me and my family heart broken. We miss you blue!

I had a dog named Bella we had two and ever since she passed away I feel my other dog Macy is more sad since they were born around my age i was with them since the beginning till we moved and I was heartbroken I couldn’t meet them before she died rip her I guess❤

My grandparents adopted a 180lbs black lab that belonged to their priest who passed away. Everyone would feed him treats walking into church and he got very little exercise. The first time I saw him I thought he was a small black bear, that’s how overweight and misshapen he was. He would always sit on his rear left leg and it hindered it’s growth. Hard time walking or running just like Kai in the video. My grandparents got him down to around 70-80 lbs and he was able to jog around with my little beagle/cocker spaniel mix when we brought her up to visit. It was great for both of them. He was still an absolute vacuum though, food would be empty in seconds, any branches on their old apple trees that got too low would be stripped of their fruit, and I know of at least one time where their small pond overflowed from rain and he ate a big fish that came out. He was an awesome dog.

Bruh this dog worked out, had a healthy diet, AND got a job. How is he so much better than me at life.

His comment just said that he was in pain exhausted and happy. As a human you can’t be exhausted in pain and happy. You have to better yourself 100%. When she said (at the end) that she was proud of him, I couldn't help but think that she should also be proud of herself. She opened her home and heart (which I think is infinitely scarier) to this boy, knowing that nothing was going to be easy. Good job for everyone involved!

well they just fed him as much as he wanted, which is fine if there are not a fuckton of starches, but with the starches, the insulin levels go up, so the fat gets stored rather than being burnt for energy.

Erik Staley I wouldn’t say it is abuse. Abuse is with intention. They said the owners didn’t even realise what they were doing and didn’t think it was overweight. If they intentionally made it fat because it is ‘cute’. Then it’s a different story.

These cases are so so sad. My aunt and uncle had a dog that looked very similar to this one and was also very much overfed too. I am surprised that the dog lived as long as it did, but I know that if the dog was a healthy weight she could’ve lived a lot longer.

I feel like she doesn’t give herself enough credit. She is always saying it was the dog that was motivated and did all the work to lose weight but I thin KB it was the owner. She was the one who motivated him to do everything in order to lose weight. She even got him a new friend just to help him! Give yourself more credit! 👍

Oh no she already had Abby before adopting Kai. She didn't adopt Abby for the sake of Kai, but it's still really sweet.

Fat animals are are cute for some reason but I was very happy when I knew it lost the weight. Please don't act like everyone is evil because they think fat animals are cute because it doesn't mean they think it's good.
