Norwegian Knife RESTORATION - Complete Restoration

In today’s video I will be restoring this rusty Norwegian knife. To restore the knife, I haven’t used power tools and restoring this knife naturally was a little longer.
I started with a sanding with several different sandpaper grits. Some of what I used are: 180, 240, 320, 600 grit. Then I used several different types of files for metal part and wooden part. After removing old handle, I have marked for new one, cut it in wanted shape and use chisel (sharpen screwdriver was handy) to make a groove for the knife to fit in. Glued everything together and left to dry overnight.
Next step was to give better shape to the new handle and make it symmetrical. So far, so good, handle is ready to be coated with oil to protect the wood. Best part in this restoration project was sharpening and cutting that paper at the end. With that result I know I did good work.

I am sorry but the original shape of the handle was fantastic and stylized the knife as a whole, quite the opposite of what has resulted after your willful work. Saludos

I have that exact same bench vice in my garage. The exact same model to be factual. Only mine is red. Mine has broken down constantly and I've had to repeatedly repair it. I use it for small detailed projects and have a larger. Heavier duty bench vice for bigger projects.
