That's some deep NL lore
This was a great video! Videoing a chess lesson - such a great idea. It also improved my opinion of Rozman quite a bit. I already liked him - but now I like him even more because he checks his sometimes sarcastic humor and snarkiness at the door when he is working with a student. That makes for very entertaining Twitch streaming, but when you're one-on-one with a student, you have to throttle it back a bit. I also have to hand it to this student. He seems very comfortable working with Levy. I think I would be intimidated just knowing that my instructor is so brilliant that I would be continually haunted by the notion that he adversely judging everything I do and every thought I have. But that would be MY problem. Northernlion clearly does not have this problem. This is a good example of how it takes TWO to have a productive chess lesson. Obviously, you have to have a talented instructor but you also have to have a receptive student. Not all accomplished chess players, even some Grandmasters, are good instructors. Levy is, however! Thanks for uploading this. I really enjoyed watching the interaction.
I love this pairing, I found you because NL reinvigorated my interest in chess. You became one of my favorites to watch since then. You should definitely try and do more with him, for my sake.
Commenting up for the algorithm, happy to see NL thriving in the chess lane. Good stuff, and the lessons were very informative!
I've been looking forward to this! Thanks for the collab Gotham and NL!

@kochevar99
3 жыл бұрын
My biggest problem is the old saying “tactics is knowing what to do when there is something to do, strategy is knowing what to do when there is nothing to do.” That’s why I dig these types of videos. Levy isn’t telling him, “okay let’s learn tactics.” He’s pointing out why the move he made to improve his piece is good. Or why a seemingly logical move is bad. “Because it’s slow,” is an answer to a strategic problem, not a tactical one. But the “find your worst piece and improve it” is a piece of advice I need to think about more often.
