NO WAY HOME Is Spider-Man Film We Need - REVIEW

Фильм және анимация

It's that time of the year again! A new SPIDER-MAN movie is in theatres and it is brilliant in ways I never thought possible. Join me as I discuss Tom Holland's latest outing as the wallcrawler which brings back iconic faces like the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx. No Paul Giamatti though :(
Using nostalgia to push these characters in new directions, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME is the Spider-Man movie we have been waiting for!
SPOILERS, of course.

Thanos had his reasons and didn’t kill senselessly. Goblin not only kills senselessly, he actually likes killing, and if he spares you, it’s because he’s actively ruining everything you live for. There was a sense of safety in Thanos’ code and honor, Goblin doesn’t have those.

i think it makes the most sense to introduce norman and harry as the complete opposite of what peter expects. I'm thinking like Matthew McConaughey as Norman, and he's kinda just a real cool, science dude. Then, develop him over the college trilogy, slowly showing him become cold and sinister.

This movie was a character study of MCU Peter and a meditation on what being Spider-Man means that used the returning characters and villains to serve that idea. It's basically a 2 hour movie about how Spider-Man doesn't (or shouldn't) kill villains, but rather save them. It was beautiful.

The different characterization of each Spiderman was outstanding. Each brought different perspective and experience from their specific place on the path of this identity that they all share and were able to impart it to the others (Andrew about rage and being at that dark point in life, Tobey about having been through that moment and learning to be less hard on yourself, and Tom about how to be part of a team). Absolutely one of my favorite parts.

Spider Man No Way Home managed to be so many things that if you tried describing it on paper you would instantly think “major flop incoming”. But……..somehow…….and I can’t believe it still……….they actually managed to make what you think would be bloated as an anchor and drive to the overall theme of the movie which had never been done before, not even in “Into the Spider-Verse.” What became a wrap up for the Homecoming trilogy turned into also a bookend for 20 years of Spider Man on film. So wholesome.

I could've done without the Joke Juggling that is the MCU humor banter and more meaningful moments between the Spidermen. Like I would've loved a montage of them helping each other in the lab and swinging together in different styles to the Statue of Liberty. More Spiderman stuff. I could've used moments where they quipped/talking shit to the enemies they were fighting. Andrew was the only one who quipped. And I wished to God, that instead of the Venom end credit, we just.....you know, SAW SNIPPETS of Tobey and Andrews closure cause one got redeemed, one tells us about his life as Spiderman after his trilogy ended.....ugh my god. But I'm still happy.

I was lukewarm about Homecoming, I actively disliked Far From Home, so I had low expectations for this, because even though it was extremely obvious that Tobey and Andrew, they could've been just nostalgia by itself with no actual substance, but man...I went in expecting copper and I got PLATINUM. The fact that this movie FINALLY made people realize how good Andrew was warms my heart AND HE GOT TO SAVE THE GIRL!!! I don't care how predictable it could be said it was, it was exectued flawlessly, his expression on the moment he finally forgives himself was...Amazing.

The only problem with Tom Holland's Spider-Man is that I wish there were personal losses in the first two movies, and it's great that it happened in No Way Home but it should have happened. I still don't understand how Uncle Ben doesn't impact Holland in any way at all. In Civil War, he tells Tony Stark that he became Spider-Man because his Uncle died but that is it. Nonetheless, No Way Home is amazing.

I liked the part where they were taking the identity reveal thing seriously & insinuating how this could become a legal drama with Daredevil in the mix. Since I grew up with Tobey Maguire's movies, I liked being serviced. So, like you said, it's two movies mushed into one. For me both of them are great. As a whole, not so much. But yes, really glad to see that Holland's Spidey has been striped off his Avengers cushion and is basically where Maguire's Spider-Man was in Spider-Man 2. I hope they really stick with that instead of giving him an easy way out.

The best part is that it worked off the personality of every Spiderman, Andrew's Spiderman suffered the loss of Gwen Stacey which made him save MJ, Tobey's Spiderman was smart and intiuitive which helped him fight Green Goblin. I think the only part I wasn't particularly keen on was the multiple dimensions/timelines, when Dr Strange was trapped in another dimension, it fels like a cheap side plot to hold characters in, whilst the main story is going on.

So yeah the beginning was a little slow and the culmination of the worst parts of the last two movies but HOLY SHIT did they pay off everything they promised! The previous Holland films have had zero stakes and from the moment Doc Ock shows up something just feels different. You can feel that even the jokes and quips are taking Peter to that emotional nexus that he’s never had in the mcu and it’s always such a critical moment for this character. And when I was watching I was constantly thinking they’re not smart or brave enough to go to those places and I was wrong on every occasion. NWH is officially the definitive Peter Parker story.

Dont get me wrong, I loved this movie. Even the stuff I didn't like I still think fit so well that I don't even care. However,, the one gripe I have & that I would change is Peter trying to save the villains. They die because they're horrible people who bring their deaths on themselves. Tobey and Andrew both gave their villains chances to be good. Doc oc actually kills himself by being a hero in the end. I think it'd be a much better/more powerful message to have it be like, "it is not your responsibility to save everyone. People make their own decisions. We can try to guide them, but it is not your responsibility to save everyone. With great power comes great responsibility, yes, but that also means being responsible with your power and knowing your own limits and that you can't fix the world. You can't save everyone, and sometimes trying to hurts more people." But that's just me. I still loved it.

but that's not Spider-Man Spider-Man is someone who would try and save everyone. Sure it can be like Batman begins: I'm not gonna kill you, but I don't have to save you but Spider-Man would never do that. even in the comics he irks a lot of other characters by preventing them from dealing rightful justice/revenge or whatever. Dude has tried to save Dr Doom from rebels, other villains from heroes or other villains, and other stuff. Despite all the darkness that follows him, he always does what he thinks is right, sometimes naive optimisim but that's Spider-Man

mah they soft rebooted him into the classic Spider-Man everyone knows and loves, finally all grown up, he had others to fall back on when he was a kid, but now he has no one, not even May people still know Spider-Man, so he still can show up and help other heroes, and they will recognise him. but not who is under the mask. hopefully he has learnt and won't keep his mask off like he did with Fury's team in FFH also he didn't go back to Ned and MJ because he realised people close to Spider-Man always got hurt, May wouldn't have died if he wasn't Spider-Man or if she didn't know he was. Even other Spider-Men talked about how much they lost, cementing Tom's Peter's descision to go solo, selfless Spider-Man

Dude really thought a movie using nostalgia as a veil to hide its shitty plot and lazy script is somehow a perfect movie

i just saw it and this is exaggerated. its an okay origin story a little too late. Also didn't really nail garfield's personality in his first appearance. I did not expect him to react like that.

Just my opinion, and I find myself agreeing with yours quite a bit, but I personally thought this film was junk. That being said, I never was a fan of this iteration to begin with, it's just too cutesy for me. I know this time it's real kids playing kids, but when I was 17, we weren't acting like puppies in a petstore. All the characters (except for Tom Holland, mostly) are very one note and infantised, a good example being Ned, who is basically there just to say "duuuude' or 'no wayyy' or basically act like that talking dog in 'Up'. I swear, if you threw a ball and said fetch, he would run and get it. If you compare his character or any of the characters to Harry or MJ or Gwen from past iterations, it's like wowww, this iterations has been really dumbed down, like really. It's like when McFlurry came out in a legit plastic cup, a machine swirled the ice cream and m&m's together and you got a mcflurry branded spoon that was super tough and would find its way into your cutlery draw because not even a nuclear blast would break that thing,, and now 20 years later, some dude just pours soft serve into a sundae cup and chucks some sparse m&m's on top. It's chalk and cheese. But in service to what? I dunno, i'm getting on tangent Getting back to this film, I know they had to comply with Covid restrictions, and very rarely could you have two characters in the same shot (aside from their CG stunt double counterparts), but dude, this film looked so cheap looking for $200 million. It was a total green screen fest, more so than the average Marvel fare. The whole time I was thinking Superman: Quest For Peace. With exception of Alfred Molina, none of the returning villains or others looked like they watched their previous work. They all acted differently, Willem Dafoe was totally nutered with his Green Goblin portrayal, I know the man is old, but I mean, go watch him beat up Spiderman in 2002, all the grit from that has gone, couldn't believe it. And as for the other returning characters who shall not be named, not only did one of them look like they didn't want to be there, but both played their character completely differently too. Aside from that, the story was so poorly strung together, they idea of how the multiverse would come to be was so much better in my head, and I'm not even a casual fan of this spiderman iteration. I think ASM2 and S3 absolutely wreck this movie, and those flicks aren't great.

I think you need to watch the film again because Goblin beat Peter way harder in this one than he did in the 2004 one. And I'm pretty sure they captured high school pretty well. I can say that because I'm in their grade. They weren't "puppies". I do agree with the Ned thing tho. But there is no way in hell this is worse than TASM 2. There are some flaws, but they dont really ruin the whole movie.
