My brother died about 6 months ago in a sprint car racing accident. He was blowing up the tires before his race and one exploded and crushed the whole left side of his head. This was his favorite song on the entire planet. And it will forever be the song that reminds me of him

I'm Denver born and raised, and the Dirt Band was quite highly thought of around here back in the day. One of the very first concerts I ever saw was when they played the field house of the local college. Fun show. Perhaps my biggest memory of that night was how often everyone in the band would just switch instruments and they'd all play something else every few songs. LOTS of talent there.

When I was a very young girl, 8,9, 10... my aunt Billy and Cousin Dawn, used to run the Fan Club for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and a few summers I got to travel with my Aunt and Cousin following the band around selling shirts, tapes, posters etc... it was a lot of fun. These guys treated me very well and gave me back stage passes to every concert. Back when Lenny Martinez was the manager. Good times and memories I will never forget.

This song takes me back to outdoor summer barbeques when I was little, laying a blanket down and watching for shooting stars, eventually waking up in bed having been carried there. Childhood is such a short and precious thing.

Lazy yellow moon comin' up tonite, shinin' thru the trees, Crickets are singin' and lightning bugs are floatin on the breeze Baby get ready..... Across the field where the creek turns back by the ole stone road I'm gonna take you to a special place that nobody knows Baby get ready.....OooooooOooo You and me going fishing in the dark, Lying on our backs and counting the stars Where the cool grass grows. Down by the river in the full moon light, We'll be fallin' in love in the middle of the night Just movin' slow... Stayin' the whole night thru, feels so good to be with you... Spring is almost over and the summer's comin' the days are gettin' long Waited all winter for the time to be right, just to take you along Baby get ready..... And it don't matter if we sit forever and the fish don't bite Jump in the river and cool ourselves from the heat of the night Baby get ready.....OoooooooOoo [Repeat the CHORUS (x3)] You and me going fishin in the dark!
