Road trip to Calgary. Long drive. Thanksgiving. My brother is freshly married and the whole family is listening to this song in the living room and I remember this song from my childhood. I'm in total bliss, eating a 10/10 thanksgiving meal and I feel real happy. Now a couple years later; they are smashed to smithereens, broken up and divorced. But this song still reminds me of when they were happy and it makes me feel just as happy as ever still to listen to it.

Prayers and well wishes sometimes don't seem like enough. This is one of those times. Losing a loved one, especially a child, is unimaginable. My heart hurts for you. But just like you made mention of, we're able to work our ways to an eternal kingdom where such grief can't enter. Just suffer a little while longer and push on. It's all we can do until we hear "well done my good and faithful servant".

About 10 years ago my grandpa bought a 1996 smokercraft fishing boat a real nice little fishing boat. Anyway he left it up at his farmhouse for 2 years and we just got it out of there and after 3 weeks of repairs and cleaning we went fishing in a big lake and used the stereo to play this song on the way to our fishing spot.

Bombing around in the backhoe on the city streets, every single window wide open, this song cranked to 50 on the volume knob and me just howling along everywhere I go. I've caught a few smiles about it.

I was brought up on classical and jazz music and studied classical at university. Somewhere in my 30’s someone played this song and I loved it. It was my introduction to country music which I’ve enjoyed ever since.

Never forget hearing this live at Jamboree in the Hills by Nitty Gritty. A 3-4 day country festival with 25-40 family and friends. Nitty was on at night and still remember my Uncle Walt and Aunt Bonnie dancing and enjoying this song 24hrs ago. He passed away in 05… RIP Uncle Walt. Seen great country bands there and only went 3 years, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Alabama, there where so many I’ll have to look up from 00-02.

Too legit to quit all these years. It still perks me up to know every part of this song inside out. My older sister had the cassette and we listened to this one on repeat for a while. Makes me appreciate country music a little bit to know, at any point in my music career I could just give up, but me a big old tour bus, and take my pro act on the road. You have to have a couple decades of actual cowboy work to know exactly where that fishing in the dark occurs for some. Thanks Nitty Gritty Dirt Band!! Y’all made it okay for me to appreciate the finer parts of my own chosen profession in life; a musician. I have never thought much about lyrics until writing my own album. Word word said this little cowboy bebop literal overlap for the birds.
