Sawyer Brown always holds a spot in my heart. They performed in S. Ga back in the early 90's so that the hospital in my town could get new neonatal equipment to save premature babies. They took time out of their busy schedule to help them and while that hospital is huge now, they helped it more then and saved so many babies by doing so! First Class Group all the way!

Here is a little history trivia how they came up with their name (from Wikipedia).. The band originally chose the name Savanna. When another band with a similar name emerged, the group decided to change its own moniker. They met at their manager's office in Nashville and began looking through area telephone books for inspiration. They blindly landed on the name of a nearby thoroughfare, Sawyer Brown Road, and derived the new band name "Sawyer Brown".

I was lucky enough to get interested in country music just as a lot of 90s acts were dominating the airwaves: Wynonna, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Sawyer Brown, Mary-Chapin Carpenter. I could go on and on. I've drifted away from country music but am thankful for 1992 - 2006 when my life was filled with a lot of great songs (and concerts).

I think 1985-1995 had some incredible music in all genres. Country music was no exception (i agree w/ the commenter below re: 90s country), and I'd put SB front and center with the best. The Dirt Road, Outskirts of Town, Cafe on the Corner... i wore those records OUT. Miller's smooth baritone complimented by Hobie n Duncan (if memory serves) singing backup--in ways reminiscent of Diamond Rio's configuration, another country band I adore--and Miller was a great songwriter in his own right. Mac Macanally (sp) had some contributions to/collabs with the band & they were gold!

Seen them live twice, and they rocked the house! This guy was an even bigger ham on stage, if you can believe it. Songs like this made the 90s hella fun!

This song defies all the pandering, and "You're a Legend, " ego stroking that is all too common today. Real song, and true to life lyrics.

I was 15 and my dad and I were headed out bright and early on a hunting trip. I was bummed about some girl. Without asking, he seemed to know. This song came on and he simply said, "That's really all that matters, isn't it?". Made me feel better right away. I always think of that when I hear this song. Thanks Daddeo :)

Sawyer Brown is the name of the band, not a person. The singer is Mark Miller.
