Outlandish Cashew but it seriously is strange. I’m gonna say baby peach is the first toadette born with no?? Idk toadness??? ???? That’s really a huge step though and was so disturbed seeing a mushroom in mushroom kingdom causing this to toadettes. It just makes the entire mushroom the pinnacle of mystery again. So earth shattering

I watched a couple of reactions that didn't even acknowledge the bizareness of Peachette. I knew I should have come to the EZA crew first.

Okay so we need to start paying more attention to Smash reveal CGI trailers. They literally just revealed parts of Luigi's Mansion 3 in the Simon reveal trailer. I'm watching you Sakurai...

That Splatoon 2 trailer was clearly meant as a parody of an anime intro. That's why there was a bunch of stuff you couldn't read on screen, including what looked like fake sponsor logos right at the end. I thought it was a nice touch. I also liked the Isabelle/Animal Crossing announcement. Possibly because I'm looking forward to both games and I really like Isabelle. And since Animal Crossing is clearly still a ways off there's plenty of time to show off the gameplay.

I think Square is putting FF 7, 9, 10/10-2, and 12 on Switch simply because it's probably easier for them to put all of the games that have already received HD ports/remasters on other platforms onto Switch. So it's probably nothing against 8 but rather it's simpler for them to bring over all of the HD games that have already been put onto PS4 and PC.

I gotta admit, I'm shocked by your reactions to the Isabel / animal crossing reveal. It was obviously done to troll everyone, which is why the smash portion was first. I honestly thought you guys would gotten a good laugh from it.

They want it too much and last year E3, Jones rant too much because of Animal Crossing. So it sting and not become funny for them, I think. Also it is too long not like king Dedede troll last time.

Those outbursts of laughter at the end was gold! 😂

I think Jones missed the point of that Yoshi's Crafted World bit about flipping the level. It's not that you're just going the other direction, it's that you have new things visible to you now from the other side. This game clearly has a lot of interactable objects and whatnot, so I'm sure flipping the world will involve lots of those. If there was anything to criticize about this, it's that Super Paper Mario did it first! Game looks pretty great though.

Watched this live. Had to go seek out Jones reaction for sure. (hottake) I told the wife she will need to buy a switch now because of new Animal crossing game because she was INSANELY into the 3DS game... but interestingly had 0 interest because of getting very bored of the phone version. Proof that diluting a franchise is a very real thing?

Possible, but hard to tell until we get the first real trailer and even then wait to see when the game comes out. Nintendo has been hitting it out of the park lately so I'd imagine this new game will light a fire under everyone. Plus, the new game should come out at least a year after the phone app so she could shake off the bad vibes by then.

Alexander Chilton depends how into gaming she is. If she’s not a “gamer”, she’s probably not inclined to give a game a chance. I’m that way with movies. I don’t like movies, but there are many times when I will catch one in progress and get absorbed into it.

Asmodee is one of the biggest board game publisher around, and has only been expanding in recent years. They are also known to make pretty high-quality digital ports of their games (of which there are many). As for those games shown in the Direct, you are correct about them all already been on phone.

The growing significance of hats to the lore of Mario is absolutely mind-boggling.

Kyle's abject horror at Peachette is priceless.

I really hope that "not actual gameplay footage" is what the game actually looks like, because I feel like the quality wasn't *too* insane or anything. If that is the case, I'm super excited.

Katamari and FF alone made this a solid Direct. I have been asking for a new Katamari for years so that makes me very happy (a remake is good enough)

If I was the guy who reviewed the game and missed out on it, I'd be a bit upset too.

I like how everyone was getting Jones hyped up for a new Animal Crossing and Jones was just not falling for it

Before I was able to watch KZread I was aloud to watch game trailers on my Xbox 360 and it was the only way for me to use the internet to learn about games I remember there glitch show and I caught mew in my Pokémon red version cuz of them

Saying “not actual gameplay footage” doesn’t mean anything. It just means that it’s not a scene from the game, or it’s just a trailer-exclusive scene. It could still be FOR the game.

Yeah but no other trailer Nintendo releases has that little warning. Unless you're willing to entertain the possibility that they'll suddenly start using it in stuff for other games, it's pretty safe to assume it's Smash related.

Some context for pokemon I guess. Duping/cloning is pretty rampant, and it's typically achieved by using some/any of the online features. Official Pokemon VGC tournaments have been trying to clamp down on hackmons, dupes, etc for ages and they really haven't succeeded yet. The fastest way to resolve that issue would be to completely removing Pokemon Trading... but that in itself is another whole can of worms.

Wait, maybe I'm missing something but what's so special about Toadette turning into Peachette? In Super Mario 64 DS Yoshi/Luigi/Wario could wear Mario's Cap and turn into Mario, why is everybody so shocked? XD

The Splatoon 2 trailer actually replicate an anime opening, they even got the sponsor screen lol

I mean, they could just be posters. It would be weird to not be playing as Luigi in Luigi's Mansion. I dunno if the Poltergust would even fit Wario, to be honest. And I don't think any other character could really fill Luigi's role. That said, place your bets, who thinks the plot of this game will be that E.Gadd accidentally dropped his remote and it landed on the Boo release button or something? I mean, let's not even be coy here, King Boo is gonna escape _somehow._

apparently it was due to a copyright issue with 1 song in the game. So it might come later but who knows. (tht and apparently hasnt gotten an HD release yet so they culdnt get it on the system as easily like the others here)

+Jtown 465 Theres a diff. between porting and HD release. Since it was ported on last gen/handheld hardware it wuld require more work to put on Switch than these FF titles, where it wuld take just minor code change.

a year out isn't long for a game, I mean Spider-man was shown 3 years ago at e3 with gameplay, yet it just came out this past month.

Lord of the rings is not just a hearthstone. Check the real boardgame out! :) It has so much more depth than heartstone, however, I'm not sure how the switch version will be.

To be fair, it isn't a Smash Direct, they wouldn't want to give it special attention in a general Direct, they're just giving details on upcoming titles and updates, focusing on one game in particular would make it look like they're riding off that game. It was a good teaser IMO, it was honestly pretty smart to incorporate them both into one teaser. People are gonna expect the Direct to end on Smash news (just cuz the fanbase are insatiable), so the segue to an announcement for an Animal Crossing game (a highly anticipated release that a lot of fans have lost hope for, at least based on my observation) was the perfect way to close it. I think saying this was 'mean' or 'sloppy' is kind of being a bit over-critical--

The New Super Mario Bros. games seem like such a missed opportunity. It would be nice to get a proper Super Mario Bros. 4/Super Mario World 3.
