The most entertaining thing of this this direct was watching Blood, Jones, and Dam reacting to Kyle's reaction. Just seeing his reactions to everything was priceless.

100% that is based on the UK. The industrial north, the clock towers the cottages. The house I grew up in had a chimney stack just like in the video.

Thats a good thing I dont think Pokemon needs a revolutionary leap, frankly.

I totally agree with what Kyle said ... did expect some kind large shift or at least graphical upgrade when Pokemon jumps to the big console. This looks more like they kept the engine of Sun and Moon and ported it over to the Switch. Also the map looks really small and linear ... but that can be deceptive.

As a life long Pokemon fan, Kyle's opening monologue to his reaction connects with me on another level

It's amazing when Kyle's reaction becomes the best bit he's ever done. And it's not even a bit. Thank you for this reaction stream allies, that's what we expect now with the new studio ! Also Damiani kudos for doing this AND friend code.

I am very confused right now. I'm not sure if a reaction video to a reaction video actually has potential as an entertainment form, or if, you know, it just works when it's Kyle.

I had the exact same reaction as Bosman to the Shield version of the game. I was saying, "Who's gonna buy Pokemon Shield?..........................me, I'm probably going to get it." I always get the least popular version of the 2.

Thank y’all for waking up early and doing this. A few channels were opting out because of the short length. (I won’t call out names) It’s the little things like this that make EZA the best in the biz.

Only two things I was disappointed by was not seeing the Pokemon for the encounters and not having a partner pokemon. The environments look great tho, specifically that there seems to be an equal amount of different environments.

Most of the trailer: good graphics, nice setting, nice game. Reveal of the name of the game: NOW ITS HYPE

This is the console pokemon game we were looking for. Everybody flipping out over very little shown, it looks better then sun and moon. You cannot tell me looking at that game and this and this doesn't look better. It's pokemon, not zelda or mario. It is a step up, animation wise, fidelity wise. They have a lot more to show, calm down. Y'all are gonna love this.

I would read the sword in a Victorian Britain setting as exploration and progression, with the shield as preservation and conservation.

Kinda onboard with Kyle. Map looks linear, probably just going up the whole time. For a mainline console pokemon game, looks the same as the handheld one. "Just another one," perfectly sums it up by Kyle.

Mellow Felloh I'm curious. Why would you expect them to deviate so much from what they put out previously? Just because the switch is a system you can dock and play on your TV? They have an extremely successful formula, why would they radically deviate from that?

@@sdc3536 True I shouldn't have expected anything from Gamefreak seeing as they just hash out the same thing over and over with a different 1 dimensional topping every time. But the smallest hope they'd try something different. Pokemon Coliseum, although not mainline, was a great pokemon console game and in a completely different style from its handheld counterpart at the time. Guess we're stuck with this franchise until it turns into something like Pokemon: Mom and Dad versions. Its innevitable.

At one point there were people who actually cared who worked on these things and had some pride in their games, maybe they can hire some new blood who won't just do bare minimum.

@@sdc3536 From 3DS to Switch is a massively power leap. The fact that this just looks like an upres'd 3DS game is a huge bummer. A lot of people wanted a true console RPG.

As soon as I heard about it I came looking for this :)

@Lain X and Y were still grid based. Sun and Moon dropped that.....thats why Fishing spots were delegated to specific areas rather than one tile thats called a water tile

IMO, the enviornments look fine, it's just the character models look like they are just pulled from the 3DS games.

@@jRiley101 They very well may have with the Pokemon models which were always conspicuously high poly for a 3DS game. They may have done that intentionally to make an easier transition to whatever the next system was. And then with Sword and Shield, they focused instead on much more detailed arena backdrops. Character models got a nice bump though, still nothing crazy.

@@Nuvendil The models look like shit in Switch though. Game freak fell into an uncanny valley with detail with regards to their models. Too detailed for 3DS, too terrible for Switch.

@@moskarr Your point? We are talking about the game based on what we know. I can't speak about what it could be. Additionally, don't expect any large upgrade by the end of the year. Some texture may be a bit less blurry but that's probably all.

@@moskarr We don't know 100% what it will look like, But the fact that they reveal it looking like this tells us what to expect even if they point out that it's not final, It's not going to look like a totally different game in under a year.

I get why Kyle's disappointed, but I don't think anything about this is surprising. The series was never going to have the huge leap forward he and some other fans want, not as long as they're trying to appeal to a mass audience of all ages and not as long as the games continue to sell as well as they always have. They don't have any real reason or push to change things up so thoroughly. Like maybe we'll see something big in Gen IX, after they've become more comfortable making games for this console, but it's still a 50/50 chance. This is the point, I think, where long time fans are going to either accept that the series will continue to be what is always has been and appreciate it for what it is, or decide it's no longer for them and bow out. Which can be sad and disappointing, but it's probably better than continuing to have hopes for chance and never see them come to fruition.

I want more of the EZA team reacting to the other Allies reacting to the direct.

I'm with Kyle. BTW the reaction to his reaction was very entertaining. I was smiling all the way through haha. I was hoping to get the "wow" moment I got when I first played ORAS on 3DS - it felt like a genuine step forward in terms of the engine. This is like ORAS only higher definition. I was hoping for bigger levels, not everything being built in sharp angles, right analog stick camera movement I honestly don't think it's too much of a step up to expect from the new entry on a new console (but it is too much to expect from Game Freak). Beyond that, I'm not crazy about the starters either, but the finals are probably all cool. I think I'm gonna go with the water one. He's kinda lame, but I don't like the look of the monkey, and I don't want a bunny.

I hope there is a pokémon stadium game inside this game. So not just rpg but a pokémon stadium with different rules like in OG stadium

Imagine if they went all out. Having a Colosseum with a competent and fair matchmaking algorithm and an extensive spectator mode for high level / top bracket fights. Taking pictures of clutch moments of top level fights with a Pro league players and LVL 100 Pokemon. It would be glorious!

As long as they keep selling 15+ million copies with every new entry, Game Freak has no incentive to actually try to improve the formula in any meaningful way. I mean ofc i never expected a botw type of world from Game Freak but seriously the scope looks like what sun and moon would be if the 3ds had like triple the performance at best.Still the same linear non-immersive experience. Look at all those "beautiful" backgrounds you cant explore. We still got the same grass encounters we have since 1996. Probably we are getting some badges and go beat the elite four again while battling some evil organization and/or saving the world from some cataclysmic event...Whatever man, unless in the months to come we are shown something legitimately interesting and different from the tried and true stuff we have been getting all these years, i cant in good conscience buy this game. You have arguably one of the most devoted and powerful fanbases in gaming and you really dont care about what they are saying to you. You say you are trying to improve but you barely do.

At the same time there's always a large group that doesn't want their baby to change ever. Kingdom Hearts fans would rather the games stay how they are, which at this point is bad. They don't want dialogue that has any substantive value, they want "In my heart of hearty hearts the sun blossoms and shines through the shadow clouds of my dark not-heart." Legions of Pokémon fans would lose it if the series tried to change for the better.

What are you talking about ? they did focus on the changes that people wanted , getting into competitive pokemon is easier because Gamefreak cared about what the fans wanted

It's gonna take place in a region based on the Continental U.S. (so the map will be huge) and the starters will be an armadillo, a buffalo and a bald eagle. The games will be called Pokemon North and South, the Pokemon war will be based on the Civil War, lock it in.

I was kind of surprised they announced this in February, 9 months is a lot more time for a Pokemon game than a Xenoblade or a Final Fantasy, so its kind of early to show it and I expected to see very little. I'm happily surprise we got a trailer, but I think what we are seeing is a game very much in development. I don't think we saw NPCs because I don't think they have made all the NPCs. I think this game still has a chance to be visually improved. They aren't ready to explain their story, clearly aren't ready to explain any possible new mechanics, it really feels like they are so confident that their consumer base will be satisfied with new footage, and to be fair it is a lot of footage for a Pokemon announcement, the new region, and the starters, and again, it took months for Sun and Moon to show all that. But they saw no need to sell this game on what is new. For all we know their could be a movable camera and they just aren't ready to show it. I hope they show more of what makes this game unique, and it isn't just a new engine of the same games.

I don't even play sports and I knew that was a soccer field c'mon guys. Entertaining video still!

Ni No Kuni is not an open world western RPG as you described previously, it is a JRPG just like Pokemon.
